I've had towt my fists talk one time and one time only. Guy didn't like it that I called him on line jumping. So he swung. I dropped him hard and fast. His friends picked him up and walked him out of the Splash line. I hate that I had to defend myself but he picked the wrong guy to swing at.
Why wasn't this reported in the Orlando Sentinel? Might've served as a deterrent to some of the other line jumpers out there!

Just a sidebar: I know that people of all group sizes use it, and that's fine. There's nothing to stop it, and people using it does make things efficient all around. So why not come up with a better name for it that's more appropriate. How how about just a "flexible rider" line where your party is OK with being assigned anywhere being split up, and in exchange the park agrees to kill the line off when it needs to in order to always guarantee that its as fast or faster than the regular line?
"Single rider" is the right name for it. It advertises that riders will be placed in any available seat. Yes, it's possible that two single riders might ride together. I've seen it happen.

Maybe call it the "Ride Alone" line. I'd be ok with that.

Back then I think 1996, it was rare. Not happy it happened. Besides, nobody in line said anything because they were ticked off.

Nothing deters anyone from anything anymore. Not news sites, or anything.

And watch people get bent out of shape because they tried to game the single rider line when they went in with another person. Seen that plenty of times on Test Track.

WDW not only won’t kick you out, they won’t even make violators go to the back of the line. We see it all the time and the only thing they do is say “you shouldn’t do that” and let them proceed. That’s why people continually line jump along with the fact that MOST people won’t say anything whatsoever.

I've seen a guy kicked out for line jumping at Disney World. He pushed in, a CM approached him and he ignored them as though they didn't exist. They went away and then around 2 minutes later security turned up. At this point he obviously thought "Oh no" and at least acknowledged they were there and spoke. He said he'd not pushed in and others around him said he had and that wasn't true. The security person whispered something to him and he then walked out with them, so it actually can happen.

How often it happens is possibly another discussion, but to say it never happens is incorrect.

If it does ever happen it doesn't happen nearly enough as it is the biggest issue I have with Disney, and often times I'm amazed at the other people in line that will defend the line jumper. If it is possible for me to block some idiot from passing me I do it because I cannot stand line jumpers, but on more than one occasion I've had even bigger idiots in the line start saying things like "oh just let her through"... On what planet have I landed when people want to try to coerce someone in to letting someone line jump. I don't care if your friend are up ahead or your family is up ahead, if you aren't in line with them when they get there you can start at the back of the line like everybody else.

And if the other guy throws the first punch the he can be charged with assault.

As for advertising purposes "single rider" and "ride alone" are both misnomers.

Out of the uninformed and foolish mortal types at WDW ---countless of them to be sure--- some could easily misinterpret the words.

The only time I have had to resort to fisticuffs was one time at Epcot during food and wine.

You should have seen the other guys nose ...

Curious.....
Why is it when an internet poster tells us about a physical altercation/fight that close to always the poster is the one who beat the snot out of another.
We don't see posters come on here saying "I got my butt whipped by a drunkard in the courtyard waiting for dinner at Napoli in front of my girlfriend"

Statistically it just doesn't follow. Most fights will have a victor and loser.......so statistically we should be seeing some reports of having their own jaw swollen......unless, of course, people are liars on the internet, which just can't be the case.

unmitigated disaster

Yes, but do you not look at people as you are standing in line? If someone were to walk past you, going the wrong way, in the standby line, surely you would at least recognize that face as they passed you a second time.
Ha! No. I'm partially face blind.

I don't mind a parent and little kid, especially when the kid is doing the potty dance, but yeah, I'm a Black Friday veteran shopper. You aren't pushing your way past me. Nope.

Most fights are very quick. It's not like the movies. Usually you have the first punch, if it connects its over. If it does not connect then the other person will likely connect and it is over. Both will likely walk away.

I did security and bodyguard work before. I have taken plenty of physical abuse. Got tired of it and left the profession. I use words first and never strike first. But if you have to fight I was taught that you hit with everything you got one time. I grew up in a police family and culture. Self defense is a natural reaction. It's not bravado, it is a natural reaction to a threat. Neutralize the threat quickly, quietly, efficiently.

You will see this in a competent security force. Disney has its ups and downs with this.

Subtle sarcasm, which will likely be lost on many netizens.

That’s easy. The other person who got beat isn’t talking.

I've witnessed most of these line cutting techniques posted. It is aggravating but more rare than it seems in the moment. For every 2000 guests I see going about the lines normally, it's the one cutter that gets remembered.

And honestly to me karma is mostly about the experience of life from that perspective. In the case with a chronic cutter, it's still going to be a lesser experience with the distraction of always watching over their shoulder, dealing with negative feedback and constantly rolling the dice of possible rejection. Normal line abiding folk don't need to waste so much energy.
