Getting enough water in the parks/collapsible water bottles

I drink a ton of water and I need even more when I am in WDW. I used to get the dining plan which gave me many water bottles.

This time I am considering purchasing a collapsible water bottle. Does anyone have any experience with those? Can you recommend a particular one?

Any other tips on getting 100-150 oz of free water a day while touring the parks?

Ask at any Counter Service that has fountain drinks ( soda etc) and you can get a free cup of ice water. This is what we did for 10 days last year.. I rarely brought or bought a drink except at meals.

i agree. the free water is great. i also recommend the water bottle to have with. i would put the water in the water bottle and freeze it. that way it melts for use and keeps cold.

150 ounces of water a day? Holy crow.

I've never been a water drinker. I can go a week in the parks without a drop and not bat an eye.

OMG I've never met someone else who drinks as much water as I do! I have a 32 oz jug of water that I take with me everywhere. I fill it up 3-5 times a day!!!

I totally bought collapsable water bottles. Some pros are....SUPER compact and light....and thats about it. I hate that they dont stand up on their own. You have to hold it a certain way or the water comes flying out when you open it. It stays flat when trying to fill it at a water fountain. You have to tap the bottom and pull on it to get it to totally open to fill. And worst of all for me, you do NOT get the full oz advertised on it!! It says 32 oz and the most I can get into it is 24-25 oz!!

I'm reluctant to do that just because I would need 15-20 of those a day and it seems like that would take up a lot of time. Do you think I could go right up to the counter while people are waiting for food and ask for water, or would that be rude?

Do you think I am better off carrying a regular water bottle and filling it at water fountains periodically (I don't mind the taste of FL water), or get the collapsible one?

I'm still intrigued by this. Is there a benefit to drinking 150 ounces (over a gallon) of water per day? Seems like a majority of your day would be spent either refilling your water or relieving yourself. What is the payoff?

I don't drink any other fluids. No juice, soda, coffee tea etc. On a regular day I drink about 100 oz of water because I like the taste and my body seems to need it. I go to the bathroom maybe 4 or 5 times a day, so I think my body is absorbing it.
In WDW, it is extremely hot, I am sweating like crazy and I usually imbibe liquor. For each alcoholic beverage, I try to drink another glass of water to make up for it.

I honestly have no idea. Im just THAT thirsty during the day. I dont drink soda or juice or anything else.

I guess my pay off is that I have some pretty awesome skin, but thats about it I think...LOL

As suggested, you could ask for a cup of tap water from a food service location. That tends to taste "better" than the fountains, and you'll have the option of ice on a hot day.

I recommend the Bobble, which is now available in many stores. Only carry what you need, and avoid a ton of added weight in your bags.

Yet another pack light alternative is to bring a "water enhancer" product. There are countless options out there, but I prefer products like Mio. They are very small, provide for A LOT of flavored water, and because it's liquid it dissolves immediately unlike the solid-state powder enhancers. Wal-Mart has their own generic "saver" brand. Other products like Zip-Fiz promise to provide a healthy "energy boost" as well, but I still defer to the convenience and great taste of items like Mio.

We carry the Brita water bottles and just fill them at water fountains. They do a great job of filtering out the taste of Florida water.

My son when he just moved down to Florida had both of these. Did you ever notice that Resort water doesn't taste nearly as bad as fountain water at the parks??? In Illinois I know if a venue sells food they must also serve on request a glass of water. At WDW when requesting a tiny cup without a lid is usually provided and you go up to the fountain and there is the water option.
