I didn't mean that I don't eat fries because they're french...I meant I don't do business with French companies. My actual rant was that if Disney want's McDonalds in the park, and you (generic you, not you personally) don't have to buy them. I am well aware of the origins of fries.

I do in fact eat fries. I don't buy french products.

sorry for the confusion.
What have you against French people ? he asked inquisitively.

I go to WDW to get some things that I can't get at home. It doesn't bother me to see the fries, I just don't get any. If someone wants to get fries, IMO go for it, to each his own.

My fault I mis-read your quote. I am 7 months pregnant and I tend to get confused easily these days. hahaha

Alot of children really like McD.'s fries, but their parents won't let them have them often (good for them), so on a vacation at WDW it may well be considered a treat. Very much like some parents will let their children have ice cream for breakfast only at WDW.

It's not gonna bother me that they offer this.

At least they don't sell BigMacs at MK !

Other than their sense of superiority and arrogance, I'm not going to get into that on this board. I have my reasons.

I sure hope we have no French people or people of French heritage.

Maybe you have just run into the wrong French people. There's an _$$ in every crowd.

You look away for a few hours, and they add two pages.
I'll read through this later... but for now...

The anti-French thing is really sad, and if you're hating an entire country for the actions of a few, then that's just ignorant. It's no wonder there's so much war and violence in this world with attitudes like that. *Steps off soapbox.*
As for McDonald's in the Parks, I actually don't mind it at all. I'm not particularly fond of the ones that just sell fries, as I guess I just don't think of them as a snack or meal unto themselves (though it's always funny to see the cart belonging to the Westward Ho at the exit of Thunder Mountain). I prefer a full-fledged McDonald's restaurant, like California Adventure's Burger Invasion. I hate to say it, but McDonald's burger are far and away better than Disney's.
In truth, the corporate sponsorship has been with Disneyland since day one. Hollywood Maxwell had a bra shop on Main Street, Sunkist I Presume was in Adventureland, Dole has the pineapple stand in front of the Tiki Room, Aunt Jemima's Pancake House was in Frontierland, Chicken of the Sea had an incredibly memorable pirate ship/restaurant in Fantasyland, Coke has it's own "Corner" on Main Street, Gibson Girl had the ice cream shop also on Main Street, Monsanto had both a House of the Future and Adventure Thru Inner Space, etc.
I have to admit I didn't like the idea of McDonald's in Disney Parks at first, but I just had to look back at the past to realize it has always been that way. Would it be better without all the corporate sponsors? Maybe. But the question is: would Disneyland ever have gotten where it is without corporate sponsorship? I don't know. My guess is, maybe not. It's a shame, but the symbiosis has mostly worked to our advantage so far. And if it leads to better tasting food options, I'm okay with that.

I think we should get rid of the McDonalds in the parks for a reason having nothing to do with money or corporate sponsorship:

America is already the fattest country in the world, McDonald's is one of major reasons for this. I am aware that it is peoples choice of what food they want to eat, but when you are at WDW, just like anywhere else, you can choose to make smart decisions rather than awful ones. (A medium McDonalds fry has 380 calories, 20g of fat, and 5g of trans fat. Which means you're getting 30%, on average, of your total fat value from ONE ITEM.) It's great fat people want us to feel sorry for them and stop calling them fat, but I will stop calling people fat when they put down the damned french fries. Cheap food is almost always the unhealthiest, (thus the reason mcdonalds is so successful and also a major contributor to the obesity epidemic). If you are offended by me being so frank about people's weight, consider this: How would you feel, if you raised your child KNOWING they had a 65% better chance of getting type 2 diabetes? Well, if your child is obese, then you are doing so. Diabetes is not something to be naive about. People struggle with it, and die from it, every day in this country. The lap bar won't come all the way to your lap, because of your stomach? Take a hint. This is not just discrimination against fat people, this is a national wake up call to those who are satisified with their unhealthiness. Your medical problems due to your obesity cost us tax dollars.

I agree with Granny. Get rid of McDonald's in the parks.

Don't forget to also get rid of Dole Whips, the Ice Cream parlors, the candy, the french fries at the resturants, most of the dishes at Ohanas', etc., etc., etc..

Actually, there was a Sunkist, I Presume stand where Bengal Barbeque exists today in addition to the Sunkist Citrus House on Main Street. There was also the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street, not to mention another corporate sponsor, the Carnation Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant.

To BruceWayne: If we get rid of the McDonald's there, we would also have to get rid of almost every other restaurant/stand at Disney, too. It's almost all fast food, and whether it's a McDonald's fry or a Disney fry, enough of either will still make you fat. Personally, I couldn't see a Disney Park without fast/junk food. You're there to have fun, not to think about counting calories (at least, I'm not). McDonald's lately has just been getting their rear kicked because of "Super Size Me." They're not the only ones to blame, they're just the most well-known.

McDonalds is not one of the reasons America is fat. Nor is any other fast food restaurant the reason. People make themselves fat. Nobody is forcing people to eat their food.

holy crud...wow...anti-french sentiments guy: do you not go through Canda either? you do know they are english-french right? so i guess that excludes england as well since it's bookended by france and then canda which has french in it as well. i'm just curious.

as far as mcdonald's french fries not being int eh parks? meh, get over it? i worked for 5 years at McDonald's (go ahead, bash if you want) and i could careless where they are at because, well, i don't eat it anyways. i say: leave it be. it's not up to you to decide what goes into that park and what comes out. if it's that much of a problem: DON'T GO. simple as that.

but hey, what do i know? i just live my life how i want.

I feel the same way. If I wanted Mc'Donalds, I would go there! The MK and AK could use the real-estate for some other food stands, character greetings, those nice foot messagers they have in Fort Wilderness, or anything else but Mc'Donalds fries! They are just soo out of place in the theme parks. No other fast food vendors are in any of the parks, why Mc'Donalds nasty, greasy fries?

Sponsorship....plain and simple.
