Now that would be interesting. That would for sure answer the question if Star Wars is a franchise now just for adults, or if its still primarily a kid-friendly franchise with an occasional release of something more mature like Andor.
I think it comes down to story. Is it good sci-fi or just a swearing blood bath? Does it still have the spirit or just some sci-fi with the Star Wars look slapped on it? A Blade Runner in the Star Wars galaxy could be really cool.

I was thinking a slightly more mature Firefly/Serenity in the Star Wars galaxy, but yeah. What I think Skeleton Crew could have been if it wasn't focused on being for and about kids.

Also its Ryan Reynolds, you know its going to being a swearing bonanza, but I imagine it'll be a joke where all the swears will be in another language other than Galactic Basic. I mean imagine if Chewie was actually swearing this whole time and only Han understood, imagine the comedy gold that would be.

I suppose I’m in the minority here but if the Deadpool movies are any indication I don’t think Ryan Reynolds is very funny. Most of the jokes feel to me like they are in poor taste(especially a certain one from the third act of Deadpool and wolverine) maybe that makes me a prude but my point is I don’t want to see a Star Wars film with that sense of humor.

Firefly in the Star Wars galaxy rated R would be pretty awesome. It would be like a Client Eastwood western in space. Star Wars Unforgiven.

I mean that's sort of what Star Wars is already, its a space opera with western themes. Heck Mando is literally a spaghetti western set in space. So it fits already into the universe, and why many Star Wars fans also loved Firefly.

Wait until you're a bit older and have experienced the world a bit more and become more cynical, you'll end up liking that type of humor. I don't think I've met someone in their 20s yet that thinks Reynolds isn't funny, but there is always a first time. So come back in about 7-8 years when you hit your mid-20s and let me know if you still feel the same way.

I’ll remember that but I have a hard time imagining myself ever finding some of the jokes funny.

I could see a Star Wars version of No Country for Old Men if written and acted with the same quality. That is kind of a western too.

They should've stuck with him. Look what a disaster 9 was when they abandoned all of his ideas.

I know most people here won't agree with me on this lol
Let's be real, it was doomed from before the sequels started. It was never going to work playing relay race with directors. Without some sort of plan for what they were going to do, it was always going to have issues.

Andor could have easily been rated R. There was suicide, point-blank murder, torture, and attempted sexual assault. Just a little push and it would have landed on the R side of ratings.

R-rated Star Wars could work....just look at the Yuuzhan Vong.

And the fact that Chewbacca's death had his flesh blasted off of his skeleton like Sarah Connor's nightmare in Terminator 2. Anakin Solo is haunted by it in the follow up novel. "I saw his skull".
