You talking about this -

This sounds like normal PR stuff to me. Let me put it into plain words.....

"We're working on who will be the new head of Lucas, but we won't tell you when or who is taking over but I'm not leaving movie making, I'll still be around as a Producer on these movies as that is part of my contract."

Fascinating article. Cleanup on aisle 4.

What’s really interesting is how emphatic she was in demonstrating how involved she is in active projects. Name drops projects underway for The Mandalorian, and those with Shawn Levy, a trilogy with Simon Kinberg, James Mangold, Taika Waititi.

Yet nothing whatsoever on the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy film that was supposedly next in the production line, or anything about the Rey trilogy. Or the Rian Johnson trilogy. Did the Deadline stenograp- I mean, reporter not know to inquire as to the status of these projects? It’s also weird she didn’t bring them up.

She may not be involved as a Producer in those movies which would explain why they aren't mentioned. Those might be under Filoni/Favreau instead. So I wouldn't read too much into them not being mentioned.

Filoni is making sure to push out the Mando/Grogu movie first, so that may also have something to do with its continual discussion in this article.

The entire point of the article was to demonstrate she wasn’t going anywhere and wasn’t retiring soon. She’s been a producer for every movie and live action series released since she took over Lucasfilm. She’s also a producer on the Favreau/Filoni projects.

I'm aware of the point of the article, I think I summed it up pretty well a few posts up, one you liked by the way.

Ridley already put out an update on the Rey movie earlier this month, its still in the script phase -

So I'm not sure the reason why you think its some telling thing it wasn't mentioned here. I just take it to mean either she isn't directly involved or its not fair enough along to mention it yet.

And its pretty much known at this point the Rian project is on permanent hiatus, so no real reason to mention that.

That article confirmed the report that she’s stepping down this year. What was the point of that outside of taking shots at the original reporter who reported on her stepping down earlier this week?

The point was that the original Puck article basically said she was leaving Hollywood completely, almost short of saying she was being forced out. This article was to clear up that she isn't leaving Hollywood or really LFL just stepping down from her role as President and going back to the role of Producer something she has been doing her entire career.

I don’t believe the original Puck report said that she was leaving Hollywood, just that she was leaving Lucasfilm sometime this year. Other articles mentioned her retiring but not Puck, but that didn’t stop the writer from slandering the reporter.

George Lucas is 80.

I hope you spread some of your high dudgeon to those suggesting George take over again since he's so *OLD* and couldn't possibly understand Star Wars!!!

I would hope he doesn't. I knew he was old, but I would have guessed 75. That's way too old to be running a studio aimed at the under 30's. Or the under 45's, who have some light facial fillers and a leased Bronco.

George Lucas is 80 now? Thank God he retired and passed the torch over a decade ago.

That doesn't excuse having a 72 year old running the Star Wars machine today. What did she last do that was successful? Without going to Google, I'm going to guess you'd need to go back to the Obama years to find something.

Ok, sorry but I don't call what was written slander. But whatever, I'm just glad that we hear right from the source what is happening.
