The fact that at the time no one liked return of the Jedi I feel kinda proves my point that people are fickle.
Umm... were you even alive at the time? Return of the Jedi was a massive hit and was the must-see film of that summer. It was almost universally praised, kids (particularly boys) were talking about it for months, and everyone wanted the merchandise, including anything Ewok related. It wasn't until much later that the contrarians started to "Well, acshually... the Ewoksh" Return of the Jedi.

"..at the time no one like return of the Jedi" isn't a "fact", it's the exact opposite of a fact.

No no I wasn’t. Not even close.😂 It’s nice to hear that about my favorite Star Wars movie though.

I don't know who you talked to who was there, in the theaters at that time. But no one liked return of the Jedi? Don't mistake, "the ewoks were just to sell toys!" As no one liked the film. It's still my favorite. Obviously Empire is the best made film. But Return of the Jedi is quintessential star wars for myself and just about everyone I know who likes star wars
I saw episode 4 when it was first released at age 5 and I was hooked on the film..,Empire Strikes Back solidified me as a lifelong Star Wars fan… I liked Return of the Jedi fine enough, but if it was the first Star Wars movie released I am not sure my fandom would be as strong… thus Empire is my favorite in the franchise

Then when I saw The Phantom Mennace…. Well that was the biggest disappointment of any theatrical experience…. The prequels are horrible IMO…. Yes worse then anything Disney released except maybe Rise of Skywalker

I was. There was anti-Ewok hate from day one. (I love them.)

Agree with most, we must be close in age. I had no issues with Skywalker, though. Stuff happens, that’s life, can’t always be a happy ending - although his sacrifice could arguably be seen as his redemption.

Phantom Menace and Rise of Skywalker are easily the most disappointing SW films I've seen in a theater

The day I saw Star Wars in the theater as a little kid will never be topped as a moviegoing experience, and all it led to (collecting action figures, etc.)

The day I saw the first prequel with a bunch of friends all excited was the most disappointing for me.

The problem with merchandise sales is Disney/Hasbro created crappy toys and doubled the price on them. Now they are triple. $18 for a 3 3/4 figure with no accessories of a character from a hated Disney+ show is not acceptable. No wonder there is an avalanche of Marvel and Star Wars stuff at Olies.
I sell modern action figures (Super7 and similar.) The wholesale cost is around $12-$14 each. Gotta sell them for at least +$5 or it’s pointless.

Used to buy my Star Wars ones in the 80’s with paper route money at McCrory’s 5 & 10 for $2.97 each.

I was too young to see the original trilogy on the big screen. Was introduced to those 3 gems in the mid to late 80s via VHS... instantly bringing me into heavy SW fandom.

My first theatrical experience with the franchise was Phantom Menace. It was definitely a step down from the OT, but I can't say I hated it. Same with the following prequels. Ep 2 was okay, Ep 3 I enjoyed.

Somewhere in between the prequels in the theaters and the sequel trilogy being introduced, I witnessed the Star Wars Holiday Special on YouTube. After 3-4 weeks of therapy, I still had questions about what I saw.

Then there's the sequel trilogy, which was the first time I felt disappointment leaving the theater after a SW film. Yes, that's you TFA. Like Phantom Menace, I can't say I hated it. But my expectations far over-shot what I got.

Then along came Rogue One some years later. Let me tell you, that movie brought back all the inner joy I felt from watching the OT as a child and falling in love with the saga. I saw it a handful of times in the theater, and each time I wanted to turn right around and watch it again. It made me a believer again in SW.

SW shows on streaming I have been a mixed bag from good to just ok. Parts of Mando season 1-2 roamed into great category.

Super7s are expensive for a 5pt figure. I know it's the license that does that. They don't seem to come down in price much.

Hasbro's vintage at $16.99 retail is expensive. I always wait until I get them for $10 or less. Hasbro's Black Series is a better value at $24.99 but I still usually wait until they under $19 for those.

You had to be there in the 70s to understand the Holiday Special. Variety shows were big back then. You should see Star Wars characters on Donny & Marie or the Muppets. There is some serious foreshadowing when Mark Hamill and the Muppets start singing "When you wish upon a star" in front of castle. At least Hamill didn't lose his pants.

This is the second best Star Wars crossover ever!

A common assessment of Rogue One (that I agree with) is that it's the movie you imagined as a kid while playing with your Star Wars Kenner toys in the sandbox.
