So...don't give anything away...but is Casino Royale the best Bond movie? Oh, and is he the best "BOND?"

Yes, it is.

I put him side by side with Connery right now...after I see it again, I may put him above....but I'm not ready to say he's better...yet.

There's a reason it was sold out when you went, the movie is bloody brilliant.

As an unbiased observer. . . yeah, it was pretty good. I'd say it was the best Bond movie (though I'm not sure if that's saying a lot) and he was the best Bond (I didn't think he looked right at all in photos, but he has a style works very well on film).

There were moments that were very good (and moments that were very bad) . . . and a few plot holes that you could have driven a truck through, but it was an entertaining popcorn flick.

I guess that's all you can really ask for in a Bond flick.

I liked Pierce Brosnan...he really pulled off the "sophisticated" Bond.
(Granted, Connery, up til now, is still my fave)

Daniel Craig has the balance that Connery had: Sopistication and Toughness. However, you only see flashes of the sophistication in CR because for the majority of the movie, he isn't truly James Bond yet. The whole movie builds up to that. I look forward to seeing Daniel Craig in Bond 22.

Yeah, and that's what I kept telling myself so I was able to enjoy it.

The filmakers really had a challenge and a balancing act to perform. If they had made it as gritty and realistic as I and many others would have liked, they would have disappointed the Bond faithful.

I agree. Plus, folks, it's a MOVIE. :D

More than a few years back, there was a movie called "Wind" that just annoyed the SOCKS off me as a sailor. To make a long story short, the plot hinged on something that would have caused a disqualification in any sailing race - and it was purportedly about the America's Cup race! I ranted and raved about it until someone ever-so-calmly pointed out, "Uh, Mary? - hello? - it's a MOVIE!"

So, last night I ended up meeting up with a friend of mine that I haven't seen in 14 years! See, back in junior high school...I moved away...and pretty much lost contact with everybody from my old town. My best friend had moved to Florida the following year and I lost all contact with him completely (messed up story..but the year that I moved away...he ran away due to family problems...and then, while he was gone...his parents up and moved to Florida...so he was homeless for about a year...then, he eventually got himself down to Florida to track down his parents). But, anywho...for years now...I've been trying to track him down (phone numbers, addresses, anything short of hiring someone). This kid was my best friend...

Well, thanks to Myspace...I found him. I contacted him, he's still living in Florida, put himself through school (He was a Gator  ), and he came back up for Thanksgiving and to visit his grandmother.

Needless to say, his life is pretty messed up, but he has overcome such obstacles and he turned out just fine (He's going to law school). It was great to catch up on old times...and come to find out, he was trying to track me down the entire time too!

It was just really weird to be sitting next to him at the bar after all these years...the last time I remember him he was a dorky little kid with glasses and curly hair that only listened to Whitney Houston and Paul Simon when everybody else was listening to Salt N Pepa and Bel Biv Devoe  (I guess, at the time, everybody was a little dorky though  )

The good thing about it...after the "catching up" was done, it was like we were never separated...we played some pool and it seemed like it was something we did every weekend
