There is a documented animal behavior study where two male chimps prefered sexual relations with one another than a female chimp. Like, they'd avoid her, and occasionally would "do it" with her, but spent more time with each other and doing it with each other.

Fascinating study.

That is fascinating. I actually remember hearing something about that quite a while ago. Unfortunately, unless chimps can someday speak, we may never know for sure......................:)

there's a few more... and they're all puppeteers.. lol. Actually, the strangest thing happened the other day.. we had a Straight Fantasmic Cast.. it was the strangest thing.

I don't feel like reading all 10 pages.... so I'll just quote Rob and assume that everyone is acting the usual way... :lookaroun

Congrats on coming out.

I once heard that 95% of the males in the Walt Disney Company are gay....

I was one of the 5%... And, I did witness Prince Charming and Prince Valient gettin it on under Main Street one day.... Oh the things one sees when being where he shouldn't be.....

Where'd you see that ?

I ran across it when doign research for a sociology course, comparing animal behavioral patterns with those of humans and the idea of sexual came up and someone mentioned and this lead to that and eventually I found it in the archives. Some publication out there has it, but I haven't the foggiest which.

Anyways, two hypothesis can be drawn from the study -

Chimps can be gay.

Chimps form strong social bonds early in life. (The two chimps were like raised very closely or soemthing like that)

So really, it's back to the nature vs. nuture debate, but it does kinda say relationships of a homosexual nature do exist outside of humanity, debunking the idea of homosexuality as a modern occurance.

Sorry, lemme rephrase that..

Debunks the idea of homosexuality as a product of modern civilization, that the way we live life now is more apt to spawn homosexual actions, than say the 5th century BC. I think that makes it clearer.

Chimps aren't subjected to our standards of daily life and norms.

Ya know?

I'm probably jsut confusing everyone, i'll shut up now.

Well, actually "homosexuality" among animals isn't really the same thing as humans. Every dog I've ever had has been female, and they've all enjoyed sniffing the girl dogs butt as much as the guys.

More seriously though, animals will try to "do it"with just about anything, even if its an inanimate object, so to say that an animal is "homosexual" probably isn't quite correct.

Then again, making sure veryone understands this, this is only my opinion and it should be taken as such.:)

It's based on a scientific study I read a few years back. It really had nothing to do with anyone humping inanimate objects.

I don't remember if it was part of the same study or if I read a second one, but the only statistic that stands out in my mind was that 15% of seagulls studied off the coast of Southern Cal were gay.

Why I remember that...I don't know.
Chalk another one up for useless knowledge.

Talsonic... that link about 'gay' animals didn't do much for me...

At the end of both descriptions it made claims that the animals 'returned to being heterosexual'.

If it's a purely nature thing then wouldn't they just stay with the same ______?

The power thing is typical human nature... look at football teams. I bet the chimp that is getting pounded isn't esactly moaning in esctacy... I bet he is screaming for his life.

Anyway, I have heard religious sermons that deal to some extent about this... but I am not about to bring that up without the full understanding to defend it.

Being gay in no way makes you an expert on why people are gay, nor does it give you the right to state an opinion as fact.

Your opinion that some people are born gay is just that, an opinion. Whomever or whatever is responsible for the creation of the universe and all living beings in it, is the only source of the truth. So, if any of you were around when the universe was created, then feel free to lecture me. Otherwise, don't waste your breath, or in this case the energy to type, trying to explain why you know more about the world because of your sexual preference.

I never claimed to be an expert on anything. I certainly never claimed to know more about the world in general. I was simply trying to share what I've learned first hand over my 35 years.

I generally stay out of topics like this because people can be so hostile and closed minded about it. Your initial response seemed quite hostile to me, and I had decided not to respond, figuring it would do no good.

But after seeing a few defenses of my post and your repsonses to them, I changed my mind.

IMHO - You can't understand because you aren't gay. It's not an impulse and it's not generated by something in the subconscious. It just is. The simplest way I can explain it is that if I had a choice, I would rather be married with two kids and living my life just like everybody else. I don't have that choice. (In fact, Florida is the only state in the country that prohibits gays and lesbians from adopting children). If you can't wrap your mind around that, then let it go.

That comment about not being around at the beginning (or was it creation?) of the universe is the silliest thing I've ever read, if not insulting. If you want scientific evidence, you can pick from studies that support any theory you like. I'd like some proof of the 'whomever or whatever' that holds your precious 'truth'.

Believe what you will. I was always taught that having an opinion, and being free to state it, IS a fundamental American right, even closed-minded fundamentalist opinions like yours.

Born to Make you happy is SO much fun. Lol, I love that dance.

I know them too... I love the "...that's the way our life should be..." part

And, I did witness Prince Charming and Prince Valient gettin it on under Main Street one day.... Oh the things one sees when being where he shouldn't be.....

If that's true, it's a damn shame. Some people are animals and need to get a room!
