Not sure if anyone has said this yet in this post (or even in others) but anyone else consider Disney Quest the 5th gate? I know that disney doesnt market it as that (even though they should) but it really is an indoor theme park. I mean this may just be me but i really think that it is 5th gate

I know which one you were watching. I think the statue of Liberty possibly relates to Epcot, nothing that big.

A Season of Disney or something like that is what it was called. It didn't relate to EPCOT but it showed a rendering of a coaster going around the statue (kind of like the one in Vegas).

I can't see that ever happening. Perhaps it is an indoor "theme park" per say, but not in the ballpark of being one of the major parks. DQ also desires a lot of work & updates to be done before it is even suitable to be deemed what it was to begin with. I honestly do not see it ever being anyhting more than a fun amusement for DTD.

I was just watching the Travel Channel and they had an hour-long special on WDW (one of many actually). At the end of the program they asked the question "What's next for Disney World?" A Disney official stated that "..although we can not give away any secrets just yet, there is plenty of room on the Walt Disney World property for us to build and we have many exciting things in developement." As they were talking about it they were showing imagineers at their computers with images of coasters and and an drawings of the Statue of Liberty. :veryconfu

I know, I know. Many say their will never be a 5th gate and I have pretty much agreed to this as well. And there are countless threads about rumors of a possible 5th gate but this was the first time I have ever heard and actual travel show, let alone a Disney official even mentioning it. Could there actually be a little truth behind it?

That could be a hint to Disney America....

Now you are just trolling.

Your response doesn't go with the OP's point of few. The OP said Disney Quest is like a 5th park, you said it's not going to happen. Disney Quest is already there. I don't see the point of bumping this. Or the other threads you are bumping.

I know what you are talking about. But that video is kinda old. That coaster could have been Expedition everst (probably not) but I mean that was filmed before that attraction. But yeah, I always like seeing that special and I want to see more of what was actually going on in those quick shots they show.

Who knows for sure?!

It was most likely nothing. A game maybe? There is no way they would have allowed a camera crew to film any portion of a real unannounced project. All projects like that would be considered classified - and Disney takes things like that VERY seriously.

After learning just a little about how Disney works I agree that they would never allow something on TV without their approval and not likely by accident.

That special is over a few years old. A lot can change in that amount of time. The 5th is coming, but probably not until after Avatar.:)

But another poster (the one I had quoted) suggested the idea of making Disney Quest count as a 5th theme park.
While DQ is an indoor "park" per-say, I don't think it's size & quality are up to par with the 4 major theme parks. In the same sense, we do not consider Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach to be major theme parks. DQ is a unique indoor attraction on it's own, but not the same level as a major theme park.

That's all I was saying.

Ahh. I read it as the OP was saying that he already considered it the 5th gate in his eyes. I think that is what he meant. His opinion. Alas, it doesn't matter since it was almost 4 years ago. Which further drives my point home...there really isn't much of a point to reply needlessly to a suggestion made 3 years ago. Especially since it was never elaborated on or further discussed. It's like somebody asking my opinion on an outfit and me responding 3 years later. It doesn't do any good and it just brings up unnecessary discussion. Furthermore, it's likely to be considered annoying. But I guess we all have or reasons.

It is true that they have lots of land, though alot of it is preserved and not able to be used for a 5th gate at this time. First you have to take any pr piece as that, just a marketing tactic to create excitement. At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised that there are people at wdi that are dreaming and designing 5th gates like we are. The designs won't be made or used, but they do help those designers with their current projects.
