Future of the Hollywood Tower of Terror

Well, we were getting off track, but my point is: as much as I dislike the notion, the twilight zone theme is probably gone by the end of the decade. Maybe not fully done, but I have a gut feeling something will at least be announced by 2030.

I think this version of the TOT should have legacy status... It is gorgeously done, perfectly paced and a real masterpiece of Imagineering... From the fog shrouded ruined gardens and neglected lobby to the old hotel boilers room...a masterpiece of storytelling....no reason to ever change it... even if it involves paying a royalty fee...

I agree, tower should stay as it is as twilight zone forever, but they have flirted with the idea before (mission breakout almost came to dhs at one point), and I know modern Disney isn’t the biggest fan of stuff that isn’t there’s or attached to an ip anymore. While tower of terror makes ILL a money and sells merch, they are willing to retheme it , and other iconic attractions if they like the idea enough, and nothing is really “sacred” at wdw (See mission breakout, tiana, and ROA). I also feel them no longer paying the merchandising fee for the twilight zone on the attraction, choosing instead to just display “Hollywood tower hotel” is kinda telling of it’s future long term. I do hope and think it’ll be the “Hollywood Tower Hotel” still, but I think after RNRC and monsters, something happens to tower at some point. I would love to be wrong.

Interstingly though, the original merch at the hotel when the attraction debuted was all Hollywood Tower Hotel merch, all designed to look like things you would buy in a real luxury hotel gift shop...
Embroidered towels and robes, desk sets, polo shirts... Not the tacky spooky t-shirts with cartoon characters ...it was pretty stylish and added to the lore of it actually being an old hotel....

"Everything Disney has made that I like deserves to be in the parks!!!"

The whole concept of “deserving to be the parks” is so ridiculous. What deserves to be in the parks is good experiences, not something that did well by some other metric.

No
Not too late to call up Mel Brooks to finish the job he was originally called to do... give another icon in the film industry their swan song attraction at DHS before their ultimate passing...

Well, he is writing Space Balls: The Quest For More Money with Josh Gad... we'll have to see how toned down the comedy may be...
A Hulu original and a hope for a hit is a lot
different than the era that Hotel Mel could have happened. HBOMax's situation with Blazing Saddles at the time was telling.

Pretty random, but Ariana Grande’s on our side. She seemed to be just as upset as I was when they rethemed it at DCA.
"I want to speak on the Tower of Terror because I love and respect the Guardians of the Galaxy, of course I do. I think it's a beautiful thing, it's great, it's impressive, it's amazing. I'm a big Baby Groot person. I don't remember much about her, but I love her," Grande said..

Immediate opinion disqualification.

Also, in the article she was talking about the extensive Guardian retheme. It still leaves intact my idea of a Doctor Strange retheme which would only touch a few cosmetic details.

Can't wait, tho, for the Muppets retheme!!!

They finally replaced the speakers in the library scenes to have a much louder more binaural sound for the final piece of dialogue on the pre-show.

I continue to think if they just put a little money into redoing the Fifth Dimension scene, which was budget cut down from what they originally planned to begin with, this would feel as current today as it did when it opened.

The ending of the pre-show always had an expanded speaker thing at the end... Maybe you were just on it where people shut up and listened for a change...lol
I think an expanded and re-done 5th dimension room would be awesome... it has always felt just a little too flat like a museum display...not something you are traveling through....
