I think it will be good if we ditch the east coast for a bit and talk about my favourite resort, Disneyland. DCA currently underwent a 1.5 billion dollar expansion, but every park eventually needs more.

What new area (include location) would you add to match the tricky theme of California?

I don't think it really needs anything right now. I went over the summer after cars land opened, and it took my family more than one day to finish it all, so I say nothing. But if you had to put something there, I'd say a working studio like in universal Hollywood where they can film some abc shows and stuff! I don't know where to put it.

I mean. I agree that DCA is pretty good as it is right now. I would maybe consider some area that looks similar to Sanfrancisco? idk they kind of did everything. Maybe a show there and a resteraunt. Make it a tiny area that doesnt need much!? I really am lost on this one

The question was if it did need something, what?

I wanted to stump you guys with the theme of California, but an Imagineer would have to do it!

What would you do as a 3rd gate for Disneyland?
Me: It would be pretty much a Disney version of Islands of Adventure.

There would be Star Wars, Toy Story Playland (correctly done), Marvel, and Oz. I'll determine the hub and icon later

Star Wars
- Relocated Star Tours
- Endor Speeder Coaster
- Firework show like in Episode VI
- Mos Eisley Cantina
- Indoor Autopia with vehicles

Marvel
- Avengers Assemble: E-Ticket along the lines of Forbidden Journey, that queues through S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters.
- Iron Man Ride: Indoor/Outdoor coaster that would be built here rather than Tomorrowland
- X Men : Omnimover dark ride

Toy Story Playland
- Toy Story Mania re-located
- Slinky Dog Spin
- New E-Ticket along the lines of RSR where you're on RC
- Omnimover through the story

Oz
- Ride like Soarin' but moves on a track also using animatronics from a balloon e-ticket
- Interactive Exploring Game
- Dark Ride

I'd really just like to see some more spruces to DCA. Notably the parts of Paradise pier that weren't touched need to be redone, desperately. And maybe a small new Ride to Replace the Drop Towers.

I'm also pretty done with Aladdin. I love live shows, even Theme Park shows, but That show just doesn't do it for me. A re-imagined version of Disney Wishes from the Cruise line would fit well there, I feel.

@Turtle I don't get how those areas fit? A theme park has to have some type of theme. I also don't like the idea of a completely movie based park, originality in Disneyland is what made it so popular!

And what's wrong with Toy Story Playland? o_O

Well...there is a theme there. I mean then you can say Islands of Adventure doesnt have a theme? And I think all those lands go together fairly well. Thats what My lost wonders park was about. And I think any disney movie done well enough can become a land. I mean like you said. Its a challenge for Imagineers but they have to do it sometimes!

Islands of Adventure theme = Adventure

It will be interesting to see Cars land in 20 years and see if the popularity is still there. I don't believe a movie based park would last 50 years but then again, no one knows yet.

islands of adventures is essentially a tv/movie park... except for lost continent, and look how that is

But they all still fit a theme, Star Wars and Oz do not. And a prime example of originality surpasses Movie based is PotC, one of the best rides of all time and it had a movie based on it!
