Frustrating Day at Epcot Yesterday

Hi all,

We were at EPCOT yesterday getting quite frustrated with a few things going down. We went to ride SSE around 2PM and was told is was down since 11:30AM that morning. The last time I checked was about 3:30PM and it was still down, not sure what the cause was but it must have been big.

Then went over to Test Track, got through the briefing room, then that went down, this was around 3PM, but we were all given re-entry passes. Not sure if it came back up at all because at that point we went over to World Showcase. As for Test Track I did learn that the cause of the E-Stop was "Feedback in 2 zones" not sure what that means, but interesting nonetheless :)

I understand rides go down, it's just frustrating when it happens to you, twice in one day. I hope EPCOT has a better day today. At least I'll get to ride another time, hopefully, as we are going back to that park on Friday.

If anyone has any info on what the cause was feel free to comment. Thanks.

Down

Last time we were down there, SSE broke down while we were near the top. Guess what, it was one of the best parts of the trip. Yea, I know, nothing really exciting to most, but we got to walk near the exhibits, take the stair case out, and got a lot of pictures that we normally wouldn't.

This was about two weeks ago when it was down, and i believe it was down for a couple hours as well.

See that I would have loved, and Test Track too, unfortunately neither ride broke down with me on it :( Oh well maybe next time :)

Sadly SE is down alot!!! Ever since the refurb it is closed off and on all the time now whereas before it hardly ever had problems. Im guessing because of the touchscreens or whatever. Maybe they are realizing now what a bad idea that was.

Our bad day at EPCOT last week was when TT went down for most of the morning, so we jumped in line for what was supposed to be a 35-40 minute Orange Standby at M:S, but then turned into a full 120 minute wait in the queue, because one of the orange simulators was down that day, and M:S beared the burden for nothing working on the left side of Future World.

Wanna bet? SSE is the most complicated Omni - and with an Omni if one car has to slow or stop at load/unload they all do. This is made worse by those having difficult at load and unload by the circular turntables. On top of that, mods that should have been made years ago to the ride system wern`t, thus mechanical triggers for a 101 are more than there should be. Plus of course the drive system was modified even before the park opened. And finally, the bane of all dark rides and Omnis, idiots trying to get out the ride vehicle.

I worked at Disney for 1 year and rode SSE about 20-25 times in that period. I can honestly say that I think it broke down every time we were on it! Even if it was just for a minute or two!

If it was just for a minute or two then it never "broke down." They just stopped the ride to allow a guest to board.

TT either broke down while I was in queue or was down and the queue not open so often during my 6-day Dec trip, I never got to ride it. Does anyone know possible causes behind all of the TT issues?

I was also at EPCOT Center yesterday... SSE, Test Track, and Energy were all down just before 4:30. I was also in line for Soarin' before 8 near the end of the hallway before the preshow area when that went down. Waited about 40 min. before they decided to dump the queue. No re-admits were given out, unfortunately.

I would like to see that system. Those are a lot of car, and a long lift hill. I cant imagine the weight, torque and force that is needed.

*note: dont get a physics on me. Im sure i missused those forces of nature in above description*

I was at Epcot all day yesterday as well. SSE was down until the evening. Don't know why but at least it opened.

TT is a hit or miss. It's a very technically advanced ride and it happens.

My suggestion would be to just not worry and relax. January crowds are low compared to other times of the year and you can do many more things in one day than you could visiting at other times.

UOE is down for rehab 'til April. So don't expect it to open anytime soon.

SSE wnet down on 12-20 with my family. We had Mom (78) with us and she had to walk down from the top. Although I would have rather her not to have to endure that it was interesting to see SSE with the lights on. Once is enough.
