So The Wrap/Yahoo Movies Frozen Review says this is WDFA's best Musical (with the exception of this "Love Is an Open Door" number) since Beauty and the Beast:

Totally torn on this one.. I am in for anything Idina does!
But.. song.. no Menken.. meh.
I love that they used the Snow Queen.!
But, they changed it so much it's really a whole new story...meh.
It looks cool!
I hate the giant eyeball animation... the females look creepy and ill.. Tangled, though awesome after 2 viewings, creeped me out the first time. I do not like the "anime" style of these new films...so..meh.
It may actually pass the Bechdel test- for a Disney movie, that's a miracle!
But... they still found the need to add romance for no good reason..meh.

Avenue Q and Book of Mormon are awesome, so I am sure I'll love the music. Still not sold on Bell, though. Not enjoying her wispy voice.

ehh. barely. Next to Idina, she sounds like a middle school chorus kid.

You're kidding right? How many middle school chorus kids do you know have well controlled vibrato, pitch precision, and tone quality? I'm not saying Kristen Bell has a stand out voice, but it is a solid instrument. And no offense to Idina, but although her voice is very unique and she is clearly trained, I wouldn't say she's one of the best singers. But to say that Bell can barely hold a tune when she is clearly hitting every note on point sounds incredibly ignorant.

lol No one here is claiming she is better than idina kristen bell even noted that and said singing next to her was like biking next to lance Armstrong, sounds to me like you are just looking for something to gripe on. The fact is she can hold a tune and follow along with anything they throw at her. And she sounds pretty good doing it.

Still don't care. Sorry, Disney. I'm a hardcore Disney/Pixar animation fan, and I'd love to support this, but I can't get past what was done to the source material. Walt and company plussed the fairy tales and stories they adapted. "Frozen", however, is a butchery of "The Snow Queen". Every worthwhile thing in that story was jettisoned in order to cram it into the "Tangled" mold. As a result - I.Could.Not.Care.Less.
I know, right? This may very well be a decent movie but it's like ordering a steak and getting chicken. I don't care if it's the best chicken in the world. I ORDERED A STEAK!!
I might rent this but I'm not dropping 10+ bucks for a movie I didn't ask for.

.
You know, it's ironic. The "anime look" came from Osamu Tezuka who was inspired to draw that way from Disney cartoons XD

They aren't doing an anime look, they are doing the disney look all the characters have had huge eyes, here is a good example of what they would look like if they had normal ones!
Glen Keane made rapunzel's desgin, he also made ariel, he is known for doing bigger eyes to carry expression.

You can't take Rotten Tomatoes into consideration this early only 6 reviews are in. That said I can't wait to see it. I've been completely turned around.
I can when I am reading the reviews and what they are saying about the film! Also it is a feat for a film to receive early positive press, sets a tone for how the film will be received. Based off the early reviews it does seem that this film isn't what many believe it will be on here. Like I said we all should have known that considering how bad the marketing has been for their animated features lately.

I may be painting a bullet on my head, but oh well (take this as an opinion, I don't mind at all if you like Tangled, Frozen or whatever). Besides being too early with too few reviews, Tangled too was compared it to the likes of Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast and given extreme hype by critics that it didn't come close to meeting (not a bad movie, just not great or as good as the pre-2000's Disney animation).

That being said, this movie has begun to interest me story-wise, after being incredibly turned off by early trailers (though AGAIN I was also suckered up similarly to Tangled right before it was released, despite also being turned off from early previews of it). While my interest has been somewhat piqued, I can't help but feel this is going to be Tangled disappointment 2.0. Nothing would give me greater happiness than to be wrong when I finally watch it though. I will give the movie a chance to wow me, but i'm keeping expectations at rock bottom after the crap Disney has pulled in recent years. IMO, the best Disney movie (non Pixar) under Iger's reign was actually Meet the Robinsons (followed by Wreck it Ralph and Princess and the Frog, Tangled doesn't even touch any three of those IMO).

Song wise though, i'm not at all impressed with Let it Go. The very beginning isn't bad (I was actually kind of digging that part), but the chorus is quite bad to be honest. I've listened to it twice and I definitely can't say i'm a fan at all. And I think it's absurd comparing it to the absolute brilliance of Beauty and the Beast's score, really now (the Carnival of the Animals Aquarium inspired prologue theme, Be Our Guest, Tale as Old as Time, Bonjour, Gaston, Something There, the Mob Song)... I'd even rather listen to the songs in Princess and the Frog (and I usually HATE Randy Newman's music with few exceptions). The music in Tangled was pretty meh and forgettable, but nothing in it i'd call actually bad. But if this is the best Frozen has to offer, then i'm going to have to hope the story and characters are enough to keep me involved. I much prefer Enchanted of all movies as a Disney musical (and i'd personally say that despite being a sort of live action satire of the princess movie genre, it was ironically the best princess movies Disney has made since the early 90s IMHO).

where have you heard a final version of let it go? (Serious question!) Also for me the only song from tangled that I felt was really great was mother knows best and I see the light. The movie felt like a Frankenstein monster of Disney tropes, not bad but nothing WOAH. I have a feeling this film will deliver that, the opening is supposed to follow the tradition of having music introduce the story, the songs by kristen and bobby that I have heard so far are not only endearing but really darn catchy (For the first time in forever is fantastic, I got to hear the whole version) But I hope the film can change your mind! I haven't seen it yet but I am really going in with high hopes. Also Jennifer lee is involved and her work with wreck it Ralph was amazing so I know there is a smart mind behind the script, she also gets the credit of being the first female director for a Walt Disney animated feature (Funny considering the major themes in the film are Female empowerment!)
