Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

Yes, right now this is the plan that they are dealing with. Pulling a Fiesta Tour on this attraction while leaving the rest of the pavilion as-is; simply not an option.

Why would that not be an option? As a crowd control issue or thematically?

I'm confused as to whether you are saying that the park maps will now say "Arendelle" instead of "Norway". While I agree that Frozen is a poor fit for Epcot, it seems to me that just putting it in Norway and treating it like Grand Fiesta Tour is the best option, not remaining the whole pavilion to be a fictional land.

Furthermore, if they are redoing the Norway pavilion to look like Arendelle, it would make more sense to spend that money on expanding and improving the ride while keeping Norway intact as is.

I feel like I'm missing something here.

Edit: I see that this was already addressed, but I still don't buy that the pavilion totally needs to be changed. Furthermore, I think if you put in a bunch of Frozen stuff elsewhere in Norway then it would make sense to change the Stave Church to a new display. And Puffin's Roost seems large enough to house a Frozen area as well as traditional Norwegian fare (there's already a sizable amount of Frozen gear there, I think).

Like I'm supposed to pull Iger out of my pocket
You have a pocket Iger? How cool is that. Does he fidget alot, I am guessing that could get uncomfortable. Still, if you let him out, does he sit on your shoulder?

Probably should have stopped after the 2nd line, eh? Still, I recall one suggestion that Norway no longer supported the pavilion. Is that true? If so, a retheme to Scandinavia could be cool and let you keep most of what is there and add in Aeriolandale (sp?)

Pretty decent sets and some new AAs. But same flume. If they *want* to extend ride flume the theater is obvious candidate for use but that unload dock as it currently is can be transformed into quite a neat little indoor environment to explore. What happens to the theater itself, that's a good question....

Im guessing queue space, because what they have now is not going to be able to handle the frozen crowds. It will have to be reconfigured and reworked all together. Are they this blind? Did they not see what mess the tine meetngreet alone caused?

Why cant they leave the pavilion as Norway but have the frozen characters present Norway,,,(I know thats not the best scenario either and we dont want it, but I would sure take that over them totally ditching Norway as a pavilion and changing its beautiful designed architecture).

My bet...they'll just play Frozen on a loop. :hungover:

I thought of doing that,,, but since we dont know for sure yet regarding Norway being renamed Arendelle,,,I didnt know if I should yet.
Yeah. If Disney were smart, they'd quietly close Maelstrom, construct the new ride, and then announce it. Before then, anyone protesting would look like a loon.

I'm not sure how I feel about it... but it would be nice to see Disney capitalize on the "secondary" characters: Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven... as Universal did with the Minions.

- Turn the boats into Ice Sleds (Kristoff's occupation)
- You become a part of the daily journey of Kristoff and Sven.
- oh look, a stop at Wandering Oken's Trading Post for their "Huge Summer Blow Out"
- Hey look... It's Olaf!
- Oh no... Wolves... Wee!

No princesses... Seriously... Let it go.

That would work. Sure beats adding some Frozen characters to Maelstrom and calling it a day. And I'd put in in DHS or MK where it belongs.
Why not learn from Universal and put Frozen in multiple Parks? I could see it in MK, DHS, and yes, EPCOT.

They could have easily put Anna and Elsa in Akershus, put a show at DHS and put an Ice Palace/sled ride in Magic Kingdom. Boom. Done.

Unfortunately, they'd rather gut an existing attraction than actually build one, if they can get away with it, and in this instance, they clearly are.

Nemo and the Lion King have attractions in both Epcot and AK, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast have attractions in both MK and DHS... so it seems possible the Frozen characters could end up with some small attraction in Norway and something larger elsewhere, plus it sounds like the only problem with Maelstrom is that people keep skipping the film at the end, and that would be the cheapest and easiest place to use the Frozen characters

I think we all should have taken notice at their lack of interest when they turned Norway down for a new film. Or wanted to charge an insane amount. I can't remember the exact specifics.

Sorry, cupcakes are now going to replace all pastries cause, you know, cupcakes are so in right now.

Well, as long as they put a character head on top. I guess those make the cupcakes taste better or something the way they are all over the place.

Chocolate cupcake+princess head=cohesive theming

Or maybe if I’m lucky they’ll just stack 3 school breads on top of each other and call it “The Olaf”
