Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

This is my feeling too. I'm not a fan of the current treatment of EPCOT, but it's almost a bigger injustice to Frozen. I know a brand new attraction would take a lot longer than repurposing an existing one, but Frozen isn't going to fade overnight. It's worth waiting. They could build a full Frozen E-ticket dark ride plus a proper meet and greet and maybe a dedicated restaurant. It could be in MK or even DHS. I'm sure this ride will be wildly popular anyway, but it's not exactly a long ride and there are limitations around what they could do to the physical buildings.
Someone at disney has to say something, I just don't think norway provides the space needed for what should be done with Frozen. It needs an e ticket experience and nothing less! I just don't think epcot can provide that especially not in Norway.

Overall though, in general, the parks DO seem more crowded. Yesterday was a pleasant surprise. May 6th was a literal nightmare in terms of crowds at the Magic Kingdom.
They SEEM busier because, according to what Disney wants to tell us, 40% more guests are using FP+ than Legacy FP, which means there's a lot less people in lines and a lot more people clogging up the streets.

As @doctornick said they could use the expansion pad next to Norway to build something bigger, but the existing Maelstrom ride isn't big enough and there are going to be crowd issues too.

Yup, people getting waaaayyyy too emotionally vested in a theme park attraction and pavilion.
If horizons was still open to date and you heard they were going to change it into a power Rangers pavilion, would you be upset?

I only mention it because your avatar. Of course horizons was ripped out for a less loved attraction but the internet and social media was nothing like today. There would be an equal uproar for sure.

That's a bit of a stretch. I imagine that the "I'm such a huge Disney fan that I hate everything that Disney does" crowd probably believe what you posted, but I think that an honest look at the two attractions shows that Space is far superior to Horizons.

Hey, didn't you get the memo? Anything from the Reagan era is automatically superior to anything designed later.

And that's only if it was really going to happen--The insult's a little deeper for the made-up fan fantasy-world "scoops".

I remember one time, on another board long ago, some fan posted his "Secret insider update" of madeup-crap rumors based on the basic concept of the park tearing down/movie-fying/cult-attraction theming everything he personally happened to think were "old" or "boring"...
We let it slide as usual, but when he got to "New Haunted Mansion-themed restaurant to replace Columbia Harbour House"...THAT did it! No freakin' wet-behind-the-ears coaster brat disses CHH in OUR neighborhood! ;)

I think that we'd all just be happy that they were finally updating horizons.
Hypothetically if it wasn't replaced with mission space, one could surmise that it would have been refreshed like spaceship earth at least once.

So @pheneix, if that is your real name :) , can you riddle me this? Do we really consider TDO is sitting around and doing nothing in response to everyone's favorite boy wizard? Maybe I don't get it or don't understand it but I think they are working on Disney Springs, Avatar, now maybe something in Epcot and NFL is now complete. Is it just that the spending is misguided or is it just that it does not fit with what we, the fan community, want?

Superior in technology yes, and I should say I don't hate mission space and barely remember horizons. I do think it would be great to have both though, lord knows the there is room.

The problem with that is that they would have had to rebuild horizons basically from scratch in order to save it, as I understand it.

And if you're going to build something from scratch, do something new. A robotics pavilion with various Disney robots teaching guests about the history of the field and new breakthroughs, from the Mars Rover to nanotechnology.

Was everyone happy when they finally updated Journey into Imagination?

Too many 'updates' have utterly ruined classic attractions.

I think that an honest look at the two attractions shows that Space is far superior to Horizons.

Horizons gave us a glimpse at the grandeur and magnificence of space, something to spark the curiosity and imagination of guests. We came away with a sense of wonder and excitement at the prospects for life in the future in an emotionally and intellectually thrilling look at the vastness of space along the way.

Mission Space replaces all that with just the physical sensations of space flight. It reduces the grandeur of space travel to a mere ride which entertains primarily through physical thrills which spin you in circles until you feel queasy, all while you play an overgrown video game.

Space exploration takes mankind into the greatest, most spectacular exploration of a new frontier in human history. From the vast wonders and mysteries of space, the best Disney could come up with is to spin people around while they stare at a monitor on a thrill ride. That's just sad.

In no possible way is Mission Space superior to Horizons. It's just newer.

The problem with that is that they would have had to rebuild horizons basically from scratch in order to save it, as I understand it.

Why? Spaceship Earth has been refurbished without starting from scratch - why would Horizons be any different?

If you are implying there was any truth to the mythical sinkhole under the pavilion, that was debunked long ago.

Um...yes?
Just HOW wrong, how loudly, how often, how stubbornly, and how narcissistic and self-franchisingly, can be debated by the rest of us at leisure, but let's just grasp it from the basics, start with Wrong, and go from there.

There's no need for us to go widespread, take recriminations and shame all the poor innocent victims whose dark sides you tried to seduce, and lead in to willingly listen to their fears and grudges over how "cheaply" they thought Epcot was being managed, how "greedy" you thought the company would be over the movie, or how Epcot "needed" another coaster or whichever.
You wanted the spotlight, and when it was shining on you, after it was all over, you found your fly was open in front of everyone. Hey, don't worry, happens to all of us. Usually in fourth grade. Still have nightmares about it all the time.
Says the guy who has been here all of a month and seems to have spent most of that time picking fights. Is the concept of being a respected member of a community that foreign to you? Certain people are believe because they have earned respect and trust instead of throwing stones at every available opportunity.

How is something opening years away a response to something opening in about a month?

Pretty decent sets and some new AAs. But same flume. If they *want* to extend ride flume the theater is obvious candidate for use but that unload dock as it currently is can be transformed into quite a neat little indoor environment to explore. What happens to the theater itself, that's a good question....
Is it possible to re-route the queue over there? I'd love to see the ride extended, but let's face it, when you add a ride based on a franchise that carries this much popularity, they're gonna need some more queue space.

They did something new: Mission: Space.

Yes, right now this is the plan that they are dealing with. Pulling a Fiesta Tour on this attraction while leaving the rest of the pavilion as-is; simply not an option.

I'm only being snarky with my replies because I know they will be examined under a microscope by my new favorite fan on here. If someone is gonna get all hot and bothered over something I write, I might as well give them good reason to.
This is upsetting. And by doing so it opens up all kinds of doors that are bad for the park and everything it once stood for.
