Also, the show literally just updated two seconds of projector footage for the first time in almost 20 years, I don't think we're about to see a major overhaul to the show anytime soon.

If you knew the PITA putting facilier into Villains Tonight caused Disney Cruise Line.... I saw people actually CRYING because facilier is a witch doctor and they didn't think voodoo was very disney. Same reason 'Mickey walks on water' was cut from the show... We don't want to upset the Night of Joy crowd
I think it's high time the whole of Fantasmic was renewed and refreshed - I'm talking scenes, animations, dragons - it's done a great job for nearly 20 years, but COME on! The beauty of Fantasmic being where it is at DHS is they can close that area off and do what work they need to without disrupting the guest experience. Of course there will be those that post here saying 'oh great... I booked a vacation and Fantasmic isn't on' - come back another time! (This is why we can't have nice holiday overlays!)
There is so much potential for that theatre... let's hope a few million was put by in the studios revamp budget for some updates.

Okay I'm curious now. Facilier was originally in Villains Tonight? Or is now? I love that show (although haven't seen it recently) and Dr. Facilier, sounds like a match made in heaven.

Oh yeah, great idea, we definitely don't have enough Frozen in the parks so far we need so much more! How about a Frozen 3D movie instead of the Muppet 3D and of course there must be a Frozen section in the GMR. And how can they dare to still show the BatB musical instead of more Anna and Elsa? And why don't rename the DHS into Disneys Frozen Studios?

He was. He got cut after the European sailings in 2010. There were a lot of upset people. It was a good section!

That's disappointing.
Very strange that people would be upset over a little fantasy take on voodoo, but not all the dark magic practiced by Ursula, Maleficent, Jafar, etc.I mean, Maleficent outright invokes the power of hell.
EDIT: I guess those aspects are never mentioned in Villains Tonight though, focusing instead on more "harmless" villains like Hook, Cruella and Yzma. It's weird that people would be okay with some of Disney's themes in movies but not in a cruise ship show.

Chill. It's not that big of a deal.
The second stop does seem to relate to the projectors failing, but the first was more than likely caused by the canoe getting stuck.
The canoe definitely went crazy. But the projectors stopped working immediately after. That was the worst showing I've ever seen of fantasmic. Two stop. Multiple effects not working. Projections and sequences missing. The projections that did happen looked crisp and great and the lasers at the end were amazing. But the fire effects were also out tonight.

I'm glad to hear the projectors are digital now though! I don't mind the new bubbles too much, and I'm glad the audio didn't change at all.

This rescore of Let it Go is so incredible. I wish they had something like this in the actual movie.
Honestly the bubbles are barely noticeable. If you never saw it you wouldn't have known they were new. The tangled and princess and the frog ones just are slipped right in. If you blink you will miss them it's so fast. The frozen ones feel tacked on more because they are after the extended batb and mermaid sections.

Glad to see Fantasmic! continue to get plussed and get some love. The Pocahontas segment isn't the most exciting but I do like that it's represented somewhere and that guests can meet Pocahontas at AK. Not sure how I'd feel about Frozen replacing that segment, but at the same time, something needs to. It's time for an update. And can they toss a couple more characters onto the boat? I swear every year it gets more bare.

The number of characters on the boat hasn't changed in probably 10 years. Depending where you sit it might seem like less because their choreography has some of them go back and forth to the other side of the boat so you can't see them. We actually have the same number if not more of characters on our boat as DL does.

It's crazy that these projectors were still film. Does anyone know what kind of set up it was? I thought the projectors were in those plastic enclosed bubbles above the stadium or are they towards the back? Did the film have to be changed regularly?
