Frozen Ever After opening day

That was not the criticism of this make-over. The essence of the criticism was and remains a Fantasyland ride in a (Disneyfied) real world environment.

That's certainly how it started, but then it ballooned into it being a massive failure on nearly every front, at least among a select few here, among which at least one person called it the worst decision Disney World's every made.

There was a time when the arguments were getting seriously hyperbolic, but that rhetoric seems to have died down now it's clear the World didn't come to an end

I don't think anyone thought the world would come to a end, just that it could be Epcot, and all it was about could be coming to a end. Count me as one of them.

Just got back. Rode twice using FP. Standby was 45-75 minutes when I looked, no outdoor queue. Really enjoyed it. Everything worked and looked great. M&G was 15-30 minutes on the sign, we waited about 10. Great detail in there and like how the outside blends with the existing pavilion.

Placement aside, it was a nice update to an attraction I only rode occasionally. Now it's a must do for our family.

So does anyone have a list of the maelstrom Easter eggs/references in Frozen? Only thing I noticed on my ride through were the baby penguins at the end (I believe they were from the artic section of Maelstrom)

an effect that resembles odins eye is in the left portion of the big snowflake right after the lift,,,but you have to catch it quick.

The Puffins? When I went to Norway I really hoped to see some, but apparently they only live in very specific parts of the country. Next time! I was also able to visit Akershus, and Disney did an excellent job of recreating the building in the pavilion, Ill have to post some pics I took of the details .

A few notes:

There are two brand new beautiful Norwegian paintings as you exit the ride into the store on the right side. Whether these are reproductions or on loan to Disney not sure. They need more things like this especially in that big empty exit room with blank walls just before you reach the store....I dont get that part, they could do something more there its like they gave up.

Also why did they remove the ambient music inside the stave church? Just a missing detail that annoys me lol.

And finally got to ride for the first time today. It gets an A- for what it is, incredible animatronics and atmosphere, but too much blank space especially after the lift hill. I know your suppose to pay attention to the scenes on the right side but before there were layers and atmospheric depth with the woods on the left side...now its just blank flat walls on the left, with pretty but fairly empty scenes on the right....Everything was working except the doors into Elsa's scene were already open, kinda ruining the effect. I know some have said that they dont like the backwards scene as let it go plays, but I found it to be the highlight. You feel like your in a cathedral and the ceiling effects were well done. I was impressed and mesmerized for the most part, it just could have had some more set design than it does in a couple of the scenes on the second level. I saw the standby line go from 30min to 90 in an instant, so this has a huge constant shift it seems.

It was a bit weird to sit down again in the viking ship knowing I was in the old maelstrom space but now was not.

Overall while I will always disagree with the placement, I did not feel the pavilion lacks in or had its Norwegian identity ruined, everything has been well done from the new addition next door, and or maintained in what was there before. It just would have been nice to have some Norwegian references in the attraction, but we got to keep the viking ships and puffins, and it least it carries a Northern feel, even though really being a fantasyland ride.

Thanks for your review. I hope that the open doors aren't a permanent thing. They really add to a feeling of anticipation IMO.

Sorry for the bump, just wondering if the Anna & Elsa meet and greet has changed at all lately? I've been checking wait times in the app and they've been close to an hour, at random times throughout the day. Is this accurate? We leave tomorrow and will be in Epcot Monday to meet them & ride Frozen :)

Lately it had not been much longer than 20 or 30min if that, however that was food and wine, since that started it would not be surprising to see longer wait times,,,,but Monday should not be nearly as bad as the weekends are I would think.

In line for the ride right now. Got in line at 7:32. From 7:27 to 7:32 the wait time jumped from 60 to 75 to 105. We started with about 30-40 people outside of the building.

I suspect the 105 is inflated, but either way it's gonna be tight against Illuminations.
Good luck with your timeline for Illuminations. I'll be curious to hear your review of the ride.
