Frozen Ever After opening day

I remember purely defending this attraction by saying that it's actually good by basically watching the YouTube videos....

....But......

.....I rode this attraction last week. It was a 95 minute wait, but my friends and I had a fastpass+ for this ride. And.. Well.. Let's just say I would have rather used my FP+ for the 15 minute wait for Finding Nemo.

EDIT: I will say that the meet n' greet for Anna & Elsa is outstanding, though!

I haven't seen it down when I check the app recently, but the wait times are down to 75 minutes. It's gotten to the point where sometimes Soarin' will have a longer wait (once, I saw it at 90 minutes!).

Yep you are right. Last week Soarin' had a 90 minute wait.. However, Frozen had a 95 minute wait when we went to ride it at 8:30 pm

I rode it yesterday for the first time, and posted my thoughts in another thread on here, but I guess I'll copy them and also share them here too:

So the first this I did was head straight to Frozenstrom. And when I got there, the line was already flowing out the building at 60 minutes! Keep in mind, I went here right at park opening at 9...earlier than that even, as they let guests in the park early now to disperse crowds...60 minutes... Yeah, that capacity for this ride seems awful :p They load/unload only one boat at a time, since they combined the load and unload from Maelstrom. Granted, the queue does move well though, there weren't really long periods of time where we were just stopped. The queue was very nicely themed, though one problem I have with it (which is really a minor nitpick, but irrationally bothered me:p) was the fact that, while we were still supposed to be in some Norweigian building as the story of the ride went, there were Google stock photos of the blonde guy and his reindeer just hanging on the wall. Like, it was unnecessary and just set a weird tone for me that this ride would be too IP-ey with no real, well, point in Epcot.

That being said, I was pleasantly surprised! This attraction was very well done! The animatronics were great, and while I though the music would be too cheesy and overall too much for me, I really do think they worked, and the Let it Go scene was really great.
There are a lot of people online that bash on the ride, and while the location is not ideal, I think the imagineers did s great job working with what they were forced to shoehorn to make it fit well. Like, people say that it's just a hodgepodge of musical scenes from Frozen and is not a story but rather some little girls musical birthday party, but that couldn't be less true. This sounds harsh, but honestly, you'll notice and appreciate a story if you actually pay attention to the details and what the scenes are depicting. IMO, this ride successfully pulls off the book-report style of dark ride to tell its story. Like, it's a good transition from the real world. The queue starts off by giving you the backstory of you being invited to Elsa's ice palace to commemorate one year after her "unselfish act of true love", which sets up the journey to the frozen world. And then, the oldest of the little rock people ( :p ) tells them the story of the sisters that they are curious about for this one year celebration. And then, through magic or something, we get to experience it ourselves.

Aside from the photos in the queue;), I'd say my only really complaint is not enough Norway in the ride, too much Arendelle, but that was to be expected. Overall, I'd say an upgrade from Maelstrom, and once crowds are down, it will be a good WS ride.

Has anyone ever answered if they are still half filling the boats in the last few days? If so then maybe "frozen fever" has died, the bloggers have gone to the springs and we can see it is still a ride not many want to take?

If they are filling the boats then maybe come September it will be down to 30 - 40 all day.

I'm hoping it will be less than 30 min by the end of Sept. If not, I'll be waiting to see it until the next trip. I'll head next door to see Donald, instead. :)

I don't know but I would say that the lack of screaming and yelling to condemn it because of it not working would tell you that it is going fairly smoothly now. If it were negative you wouldn't hear the end of it. The naysayers would never let an opportunity to put it down pass.

If it does not break down because they are only filling the boats half full that is maybe 500 an hour capacity. Not a good situation but no one has stepped up to say if that is the case. Guess the bloggers rode and didn't think it was worth a reride. If they are filling the boats and it does not break down then good on them they have a 900 per hour ride replacing a 900 per hour ride.

Since the lines are not out of the park, then if they are able to run at 500 ph then I guess the concern over it not working with the expected crowds were grossly overestimated by the group in the know. The fact is that no one is reporting longer then expected waits and broken or stopped service now. For all I know it might still be having problems, but, I am certain that we would be hearing it constantly.

  1. Down for an hour this morning from around 9:30 to 10:30. It happens. Waited 30 min after people did not want to vest their time. Understandable but as a newer ride no big deal and the ops were very transparent.
