I know how you feel. On one of my trips the Pirates of the Caribbean was closed. That's my favorite ride. It sucks, but you'll manage. Late summer and early fall is a time when they will shut down a few rides for refurbishment. January and February is another time. It happens unfortunately.

I always look at the refurb schedule when planning a trip, hoping for no closure that would impact me. This trip both BTMRR and Dinosaur are closed, which will be a bummer. But I'm sure I'll find something to do . . . . .

We're bummed about it too!! We go in September, and when we went to make FPs, I finally had to tell my kids that it wasn't open. :(:(

Confession: I'm also bummed that IASW is closed during our trip. I know a lot of people think the song is terrible, but I love that ride. It's supposed to open the day after we leave. I'm hoping by some miracle it opens a day early. I know that won't happen, but if I wish it, maybe it will come true??? ;);)

Keep on wishing.....I have had magical things happen during multiple trips when a castmember just walks up to my family and surprises us with fastpasses and/or yanking us from a long line and personally escorting us to load in! :) My heart skipped a beat to realize Small World would be open for my trip, with you I agree it is special, even if the song gets stuck......o_O

One of my favorite rides also. I wonder if they will be adding a few things like they did to the last refurb for BTMRR at disneyland. Either way its going to be a long 3+ months!
OOooooh more love for BTMRR....I am all over that but still, I have not been since they finished the queue.....was looking forward to seeing that too.
Now I am extremely CURIOUS! Need to fly around the net and see what I can find.....and goodness, I did see it was meant to be a March or April thingy and got pushed to August.....who knows, maybe it will get pushed to January?!?!?:joyfull: Wings crossed.....

Thankful that we will arrive a few days before the refurb so at least we will get the chance to enjoy the wildest ride in the wilderness a few times. This is one of the bigger rides that our oldest kinda enjoys and I know our youngest is very excited to ride for the first time in a few weeks. Always one of my faves as well.

Found this on the internet

"Finally, Big Thunder Mountain will be down for refurbishment later in early 2016, but it’s going to be for a bit longer.

Thunder Mountain will be under refurbishment from April 4 through July 15, 2016. It is tentatively scheduled to reopen to Guests on July 17, 2016. There’s no word on what is being done, but that’s quite a long refurb.

Hmmmm…could it get some of the high-tech advancements that Thunder Mountain out in Disneyland got?

Please note that dates are subject to change and can without any notice. These dates are officially listed on Walt Disney World’s refurbishment schedule, but that does not mean they can’t possibly change."

Yes, Yes I know the dates are wrong but wondering what high tech advancements Disneyland received? Sounds intriguing! :) I was pondering if they moved it to the Fall maybe they could simply move it to next Winter.....o_O.

From what I can remember, besides the ride running a lot smoother from before the refurb, the biggest thing that stood out to me was the dynamite section.
What happened different there? I know BTMRR WDW lift is rather creaky, and the cave-in rocks haven't worked for years on that lift.....in real time railroads they do need to switch out tracks, so maybe that helped the smoothness aspect. I so love this ride, and now I have to live vicariously......sigh. :)

Ours was closed for a year to put those effects in...

Well after watching the Disneyland video, the cave in dynamite part with explosions was awesome.....but being it was shut so long I am wondering what the focus will be in WDW. AM hoping it doesn't need a huge track investment, but if they only replicate the effects of that lift I will be one happy fairy. :D Think I need to watch it again.....:p

It's funny, I was able to ride BTMRR at disneyland like a week before they went into the big refurb and I remember the ride itself was very rough. Fast forward to after the refurb it was so smooth! The difference (IMO) was night and day. I think I had a good memory of it because when I rode it before the refurb the ride wasnt only rough through the hard turns but it also stopped working twice, once on the first climb, and another time later in the ride. It was so bad that they even pulled our train afterward! So in comparison to BTMRR here at MK the track IMO runs nice still, nothing like how the DLR version was before the refurb. I'd love to see the extras put in if they can pull it off here, heres to hoping!
