From May 23 through Aug. 14, Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island will temporarily operate as an un-gated area, allowing clients to free-flow through Pleasure Island during evening operations, without admission and enjoy Pleasure Island shops, restaurants, Westend Stage entertainment and the nightly midnight "New Year's Eve" fireworks display.

Admission will still be required for entry into any of the eight Pleasure Island nightclubs and is included with an Ultimate Park Hopper Ticket, Park Hopper Plus Ticket or purchased for $20.50 (before tax) per adult.

how convenient :) Great idea! You will finally be able to get from Marketplace to West Side w/o going into the parking lot or scanning your card!

I hate this idea!! It is going to overcrowd the street with passer throughs. I like the more controlled enviroment with it being a ticketed complex. I understand why they are doing this but I still want to whine!!

I am a big PI fan myself and according to very solid knowledge from another cast member at PI this is something that they are testing for the summer only. While I am a bit upset at the crowds that will be their I do believe that this was a good move by Disney. Early last year PI used to have their shops open daily as well as nightly. Unfortunately low profits forced them to stop daily sales. Hopefully this new tactic will raise PI attendance and make sure they dont start thinking one of the comedy clubs need to go:)

PI needs crowds to give it energy and make it seem to be a place where things are going on. You should have been there Easter night. It was dead. A band playing the stage had maybe 20 people standing around watching. That was so strange seeing that sight.

Guess what? There is no admission charge to enter City Walk. Hint, Hint.

Smart move by Disney - I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be permanent.

so how will they...

so how will they control who goes into what club?

used to be that you just went in since you already showed your ticket at the entrance.

are we now going to have to make loooong lines at each club!?!

Probally will continue to give a wristband to those that pay to get in. Then just have one person at each door checking for wristbands.

well u have to walk through city walk to get to the universal parks and they seem to be doing well. i wonder if this has anything to do with pi. when u go to a citywalk club u pay a onetime fee and u get into all the clubs but i was allowed to walk up to the clubs untill they closed, and i am 14. they also sell liquor on the street. it seems pi may be trying the same thing. but with the overcrowdedness i dont think so, ppl have to walk through citywalk and its not overcrowded. at pi ppl dont have to walk through so i think this may be a good thing
