I fail to see any valid reason a DVC member could have for being upset about deals offered to the general public.
Does not make the statement true though, that was my point.

I actually couldn't care less about the free dining, would never use it, its just annoying they give 42% off plus free dining at the resorts we pay the upkeep for.
I cant understand it either but im more than willing to take advantage, OKW is a gorgeous Resort :sohappy:
It is but combining discounts is an option only available to UK residents.Dont blame you, it's a great deal.

You are complaining about the discounts that a rather small segment of Disney's clientele gets as if their presence at your resort diminishes its value.Thats where I live, your point is ?

You can get the DDP with an AP but the room has to be booked in one of two specific ways. It has to be booked at an AP discounted rate or a what is called the "passholder room only annual offer" which is a room at full price. If you book the room like this they can make it a package without tickets and you can get the DDP. The big down side to this is you can not book a room only with a PIN code or general public discount and still get the DDP without at least a 1 day ticket purchase.I am an AP holder and booked "room only". I called back at a later date and inquired about adding the dining plan (willing to pay full price just to have it all taken care of beforehand) and was told I couldn't unless I rebooked as a package. I don't need tickets, I have an AP.![]()
And that is why they do it! Disney knows you guys will stay for a long time and spend money like it is water!:lol:And we are thankul for it!! Gets us there for 3 weeks!!!:sohappy::sohappy:
There is nothing free about free dining. You are required to purchase tickets and a room at full price to get it. It is no different that that free no name TV you get when you purchase an over priced living room set.

So I asked a question out loud, "why can't DVC memebers get free dining" and the responses I got ranged from stop crying you can't double dip, can't have your cake & eat it too, it's not really free (duh park tix) & so forth. Well so very sorry. I love this place more than anywhere else & thought it would be nice to discuss things amongst others who felt the same way. Obviously I was mistaken so I'll just log off & delete my name & read the updates now & then.
It`s good that someone asks a question and everyone can add their experiences /advice/ comments.
Surely we all manage our vacations in different ways. We like the DVC as we self cater for breakfast and lunch--which saves us alot. So we only eat out in the evenings.
Hey Dixie girl!!--As we are from the UK--part of the fun of the vacation , is a trip to Publix/Walmart--to get supplies!! And as you say it is cheaper--we bring our own Marmite!! (How sad!!)
