Free Dining Pins are out for summer

For July 1 through August 13.

Of course, we didn't get one. I get it, Disney is a business, blah blah blah. But I must say - It es me off that we NEVER get a pin code. Granted, we go twice a year, so they don't need to "bribe" us there. But it'd sure as hell be nice when I called to see if we had the pin attached to our name if they said "No sir, you don't. But you know what - You're a faithful guest who comes every year, are dropping close to $9,000 on your resort stay with us this summer. Let me see what I can do about helping you a bit with the free dining that we're giving to guests who haven't been here in 10 years."

Again, I get it. They know we're gonna come regardless, but the absolute lack of benefits or rewards they show to repeat customers is astounding to me.

Plus, I hate the dining plan. Never used it, but it just seems like a pain in the neck. I'd much rather take the money we get from a room discount and use that for food.

We do use it...for the simple fact I love the idea of knowing our food is paid for (other than the tip). I tend to panic that we will run out of cash while on vacation so knowing the food is paid is less stress for me so that makes it worth it for us!! But hey..I beleive in doing what works for YOU!!!!!

I get pretty neurotic months before the trip hoping I'll have enough saved up. I know we spend about $300 per day, so that's what I plan on, and all I take each day. Plus, we also use the Tables in Wonderland card. Over 2 weeks, we save close to $1,000 with that. And I always figure, if we don't have as much cash as we'll need, we can always downgrade resorts.

It's ridiculous planning for Disney. It's like a CIA mission planning things out.

Eh, maybe. I'd actually prefer a room only discount.

I'm with ya on that. I thought the dining plan was good when they included gratuity and when the food was really good. I really wish they hadn't sent out discounts for peak season because I was hoping to try to get down there prior to the end of the summer. I was thinking that because people would want the lower price they would push their trips out. The good news is the touring plans don't look so bad for July. I hope they are right.

Ha Ha KIdd, I got the Disney Junior email too! :ROFLOL: I have to say that I have got pins in the past, and was lucky to be able to use one for our Dec 2010 trip, but last year, I feel like I used to get pins all the time and couldn't use them, now I don't get any! Guess it really is the luck of the draw. We too have been going every year for the last 10 years, I hate to think you aren't getting a pin b/c you are a repeat visitor! My fingers are crossed you get one soon!

How do you get a pin or know about them? We go a few times a year as well, and have stayed on site everytime we have gotten a promotion. But we don't always get them, and never have gotten a dining promo. what gives?

I'm also in the dark with regards to PINs...is it an AP thing? Or some random coupon code sent to certain people??

I received a dining pin for last Spring and used it. I really enjoyed the dining plan and it was a huge savings (of course, it was free!) but this year we got a room PIN and we are using it and I'm OK with that.

While dining PINs are great, you can really save a lot eating at expensive places and ordering whatever you want. But what I hate is that you have to order dessert (or feel obligated to since it's free) and eating such big meals every day limits me from snacking around the world. I never even ate a mickey ice cream sandwich or premium bar (love 'em both!) because I was always so full from the desserts and full meals throughout the day. I don't even like eating huge meals as much as one big meal and then grabbing something here and there.

I have found that putting your email in the DisneyWorld website usually warrants a PIN at some point.

We have generally had success in asking to substitute a dessert at lunch time for a bottle of water and we take it with us while in the park. Give it a try.
