Well Dave, it could be worst. Disney could not offer a discount for that time period and more of your friends get laid off because people don't visit.

I feel like I'm helping people keep their jobs by going to Disney this year. I could skip the free dining and stay home/

This Year we have a Party of 12 that my husband and I are paying all but 600. for and if they didn't have the FREE DDP I know it would be very difficult for us to do it

I dont want 10 families to show up, spend $1500 a piece and stay at the all stars. I want 1 family to show up, spend $15,000 and stay at the Grand Fla.

Disney has insane cash flow and has had record crowd/profits until recent. To say that they are somehow losing money is only viable when you compare it to the egregious amount of money they were making before. Somehow the financial gurus on Wall Street expect every quarter to have insane (see ExxonMobil) type profits for every company or they have to make cutbacks. Alas Disney is still making an obscene amount of money on a daily basis, but the timing on this promotion sucks.

I'm staying at an All-Star. I'm staying for 14 nights. My reservation is $3000. Because of the economy, we are driving to save on flights and rental car. We are also going for 2 weeks instead of 1. If it were not for the discount, we wouldn't go at all. That $3000 is a crap load of $$$ for my family. This is the one time of the year we can stretch out the $$$ and make a real go at a long healthy vacation.

I'm sure we'll end up spending an extra $2000 while there since you can max out a park hopper at 10 days. We don't expect to go to the water parks for 5 of the 15 days, so watersports and mini golf are on the to do list. Because we are hurting for $$$, we won't be going to Universal or Sea World because they would cost us about $400 per day more to visit. So Disney wins exclusive $5000 from us when we would have never gone this year again anyways. We just went in January. We are just one family.

Our alternative trip was going to Hawaii. The trip would have been over $10K for just one week. We figured we were stretching our $$$ by a value of four. This is a win win deal.

Just counting the "members" here, not even the guests, that are booking extra trips, Disney has already made several hundred thousand dollars off this promotion. This is all EXTRA money from people that had no plans to book a vacation. Us here at wdwmagic.com are just a small fraction of the daily WDW population. These ads are popping up everywhere. Families and people who gave up on a summer vacation will now get a chance to grab one.
