not necessarily pam, it would depend on where you're staying.
And on the size and ages of your party. If you price out a week-long stay at a value resort for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids over 9) with the DDP, you'll find free DDP is worth a lot more than getting the 5th-7th days resort stay and park tickets free.

that was my thinking lucky. once you start staying at deluxe resorts the 4/3 deal would come out ahead. but for values and moderates I would think the free dining would save you more.

for my trip coming up in sept the free dining will save the wife and I $640 while staying at pop century, the 4/3 deal could only save me $264 ($246 for the extra 3 days in value season and $18 difference in price from a 4 day ticket versus a 7 day ticket with no hopping).

The 4/3 deal was better than free dining when they had the +$200 Gift Card. But only if you were staying the exact 7 nights. We ended up with an 11 night in January and would have saved much more with free dining.

You could have done 2 separate reservations that still may have been cheaper than free dining would have.

You could have done a 5 night and a 6 night package. You would have received 2 gift cards (still got 3 free nights), but would have had to pay for extra tickets (could always be saved for another trip).

actually jimbo, it still wouldn't be as good as free dining if staying at a value, only a $464 value with the gift card.
No other promotion that I know of is giving an $80 a night discount while staying at a value (I'm using figures for 2 people)
Once you move away from the values the value diminishes when compared to other discounts.
Of course it's only a discount if you'd be eating the way the dining plan is set up, but for us, it's awesome.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone. The dates just worked better for the 4/3 deal so we went ahead and booked 8/8-8/15 in the new pirate room at the CBR. I havent done this in a while. Im the type that I get so bummed when I leave from a Disney trip that I kind of shut Disney out of my mind for a while so I dont go into a deep depression. So now I am questioning myself about the time of year and the size of CB. I know, Im pathetic, but I am taking my parents who have not been there since 1980 and I really want them to love it as much as I do. I know it is going to be very hot and very crowded but hey Ill be in Disney. Thanks again to everyone as well as the KK team for always giving great info :sohappy:

For us free DDP is a $160 a night discount, or $1280 over our 8-night stay. Buy-4-get-3-free would be worth that only if we were staying at one of the more expensive deluxe resorts.

As you say, free DDP may not be worth nearly that much for guests who don't care about eating TS every day. But for people who would buy the DDP if it weren't free, it's a huge value.

All these discounts almost makes me wish I did not have DVC and an AP.

I am there the end of August on points and wish I could get free dining (or some other deal)

Have you compared the cost with renting your points and paying for the specials? It's a little bit of a hassle I know, but some deals may be worth it.

the wife has some friends that regret becoming dvc members, just too many deals out there either in emailed pin codes or to the general public.

I strongly considered joining the DVC but I think it's silly your ownership expires after a certain time.
