FP+ for Be Our Guest

Quickie update from me... we ate there last week using our FP+. Check in went fine but they had some sort of issue where they couldn't verify our meal. The guy said it should still be on our bands though and sent us through. When we got to the register the girl said it wasn't on our bands so she had to retake our order but it took all of 30 seconds so it wasn't a huge deal. The whole concept of "just put your receipt on any table and sit and wait" was sort of odd. It took awhile for our food to come out and as we sat we couldn't help but think no one knew about us or where to bring it. I don't entirely understand how that system works but eventually our food showed up. I will say this, the food was freakin' incredible but I think BOG falls into a new category... not quite Quick Service but not quite Table Service. Quick service implies quick and really it's not. Not a real big complaint though... was an awesome experience.

@ExtinctJenn - if you had bands I think that's how they find your location, using the RFID chip.

When I went in September sans band I got the rose, and that's how they found me. Last month I didn't get a rose because both my husband and I had bands on.

That was my theory as well but my husband seemed rather convinced that the RFID couldn't be read from that distance. He had a point in that I could see there being a lot of issues with using the bands for everything else (i.e. park entry, etc.) if the readers could read them from 50 feet away y'know?

There are electronics under the tables. I'm guessing they somehow 'amplify' the MB signal for the carts. If you ask a CM how it works they will just say 'Magic.' :D

Well, the CM told us we didn't need the roses because we had bands...and the CM bringing us our food greeted us by name. So I'm going with the bands on this one. :)

We weren't given a rose either, and we were wearing the bands. We also had the issue where pre selected meal choices didn't show up, but I didn't mind- gave me the chance to change my mind on which cupcake I chose ;)
Setting was beautiful, and good very good. Despite the lack of confirmation number or it showing on my MDE account, it worked like a dream :)

I'm curious if they read from that distance how they keep everything else the bands are used for from picking them up from that distance. I'd assume some sort of proximity rule built into it or those readers can only read from 1 inch away? Interesting how versatile the RFID technology is. I wonder if they will do other things using them the way BOG does.

They already are! We had lots of ride pics show up in our PP account and we only prepurchased the CD, not PP+.

The technology can do many quite impressive things and as time goes on we will probably see more interactive types of things. The whole RFID project has merit they just didn't realize how many bugs there were until they started testing. I have had issues with it already as a passholder but I found a way to get around the system which was a bit of a pain but when I get there next moth and get my new Premier Pass all will be good again.

We signed up today for 1/16 but did not choose to decide on our meal, this was just for a table. The reservation shows under the beourguest website but not on the MDE app or website. Should I be worried?
I screen capped the reservation but just wasn't sure if it should be showing on the main disney site.

So not worry. We did not get confirmation but all our info was in the computer when we checked in.

I don't think anyone's shows up on the MDE. That made me nervous, but our reservation was there.

Ditto yeah I don't think anyone has seen it show up in there yet, presumably because it's a different way of making a FP+ selection right now (i.e. you don't chose it in with your normal 3). What I'm curious to see is if once it's all in one place, will it count as one of your 3? It doesn't now thank goodness!

BOG Lunch is considered a quick service meal correct for DP Purposes? Thanks!
I know this was answered (Yes) but just my two cents... this is quite possibly the best use of a QS credit ever. The food and atmosphere is truly TS quality. I was pretty much blown away when we were there two weeks ago. :)
