that happened to follow a day in the nineties, because... Ohio
No time to make coffee,
There was no time for airport Starbucks
So..... bright eyed, and coffee deprived, we were on our way to Disney!
That is the best interaction EVER with Cinderella! These are the times you wish the camera was on video record and not still pictures. Tears of laughter are pouring from my eyes. Way too funny and precious at the same time.On our way around the castle ran into Cinderella's stepsisters... They did some extra special casting with these two
A: I have Minnie on my dress!!
Sisters: what a drab little dress!! You need a dress with jewels and sparkles!! Did your mommy buy you this dress??
A: the mailman brought it for me!!
Sisters: listen honey, you gotta learn how to give your mom more compliments. Flattery will get you everything!! Is that your mom?
A: yes that's my mommy!!
Sisters: okay look at your mom and say Mommy are SO pretty!!
*Mumbles something similar*
Sisters: okay now hold out your hands and say give me money!!
A: View attachment 317607
Sisters: oh honey... You're gonna need a LOT of work.....
A: running over me while casting stepsisters a very skeptical look "Mommy, she signed my book but she spelled my name wrong!!!"
We're clearly still getting the hang of the autograph books, lol.
We finally made it to the backside of the castle for our date with Cinderella and Elena!! I think A was over excited for most of the princess meet and greets because i got a lot of very strange poses and faces

You know, they say this is a magical age to take kids to Disney, but it's also a very embarrassing age....
A: I like your dress!!
Cinderella: oh thank you!! My fairy godmother made it for me with some magical words!! Do you know the magical words she used??
A: I like your bewbs
Me:
Cinderella: uuhhhhhh.... Thank you?!
A: when I'm all grown up my fairy godmother is going to give me pretty bewbs too!! And glass slippers!!
Bless her heart, Cinderella only looked mildly uncomfortable...

Kids say the darndest things to cast members would make a great book I bet! So happy that A decided to take on rides this year!P was getting hangry so we dropped by Friar Nooks or whatever and split a hot dog and some tots between the girls.
View attachment 317627
As hangry as P gets, she's also the world's slowest eater so A and I talked about our next fast pass and she started getting really excited

But first, we took a spin Prince Charmings horses!

Here is where we earned our first No- Belle prize.... We decided to take the scenic route to our next fast pass so we could drop by and do the corny stage show. The Belle "ride" is easily my least favorite Disney attraction, but both girls are in love with Belle so i was prepared to suffer through it. When we approached the gate, however, we were informed the ride was down and to try again later. I could hardly contain my disappointment
Oh well!! Off to use our fast passes meeting a mermaid...

A took this opportunity to tell Ariel about all the articles of clothing A owned that she was on. After this trip, and the crazy things my kid said, I would be so interested in a coffee table book with cast member accounts of the craziest things kids have said to them. As embarrassing as my daughter was, I bet they've heard worse.
Last year at Christmas I tried to get A to take the under the sea, but we didn't make it past Scuttle before hysterical crying set in. The line was non existent though, so I decided to try again. And wouldn't you know it, no tears!! She rode the clam shell ride and loved it!! Both girls loved it so much they made us ride it twice and begged another round but we're denied
We then took a ride on the most iconic Disney ride

And somehow convinced A to ride barnstormer
View attachment 317647
She decided she didn't want to ride that one again until next year, though but I was so excited she was willing to do rides this trip. Maybe all my fast passes wouldn't be wasted like last trip...
Cannot wait to see pics of the room and resort. Hoping you didn’t have to carry A on your back the whole trip. 3 year olds can get pretty heavy quickly.A and P had barely hung out together before this trip. We went to the pumpkin patch together last year and P came to A's super hero tea party a couple weeks ago, and they've hung out the pool once, but that's it. We weren't sure how they'd get along, much less for seven days. Up until this point, however, the girls were having so much fun giggling together that M and I were superfluous, aside for providing food. Up until this point.....
The kids who didn't bat an eye at the barnstormer were apparently terrified of the duck characters and needed our protection so into the photos we jumped

While A was screaming that she didn't want to get close to Daisy alone, a cast member set us up for failure later in our trip.... She told A.... Don't you want to pet her feathers?? They're so so soft!!
And A remembers everything.....
Somehow Goofy doesn't terrify her anymore but she's still pretty unsure of him

And of course she and Minnie bonded over fashion...

By the time we'd met everyone under the big top, M and I were ready to leave. It had been an early day and we were so tired. As i was telling M that we hadn't received a message about our room, the hotel called and said our room was ready and our bags were already delivered. We caught the moving park bench to the front of the park and walked up to the monorail station

Unfortunately we hadn't had the chance to learn the bus schedule for SOG before adventuring out today. This was a HUGE mistake. We ended up accidentally taking the express monorail to the transportation center. From there we could see the Poly so we thought,... Why not just walk it?? Well, I'll tell you why not.... You remember the little Gremlins that complained non stop about walking on our way to Cinderella's castle?? Imagine,... Just imagine,... Those same tiny humans walking even further back to the resort after walking around all day. Without a stroller the trip was harrowing. First we carried them, but then our arms went numb. Then we gave them piggy back rides, but they kept choking us. Then I popped A up into my shoulders and just toughed it out. When we finally got back to the resort all four of us were ready to crumble into a ball of tears.
You cannot imagine how grateful we were to find out the jovial man who checked us in did us a solid and got us a room close to both the lobby and the kids pool With the last of our strength, we carried our little princesses to the room...
The "Disney crud" has officially set in. Is that a thing? I feel like it should be a thing. Every time we visit the World I get insanely sick. It's definitely going to be a COFFEE and Sudafed day today...
she's also the world's slowest eater
Probably from the plane. They are germfests. Get well soon! The "Disney crud" has officially set in. Is that a thing? I feel like it should be a thing. Every time we visit the World I get insanely sick. It's definitely going to be a tea and Sudafed day today...
Those fries did look amazing! The pool area looks super nice, and the splash area for the kids looks like lots of fun. So glad the military offers this resort to those who have and do serve. Very well deserved. As exhausted as we were, we knew we couldn't hang out in the room all evening with two small overstimulated kids. So we slathered the girls in sunscreen and hit the pool. The splash area is really awesome at the SOG, and the kids really enjoyed it.

and the big pool right next to it is really nice as well. They have it sectioned off into lap lanes, free play, adult swim areas, and basketball

While the kids swam, M and I ordered a pitcher of beer, some french fries, and some sweet potato fries. In jest.... I would shank my mom for those sweet potato fries. They were legit the best sweet potato fries I've ever had.

We ordered a pepperoni pizza and some chicken strips as well and ate poolside. The honey mustard sauce that comes with the chicken strips was house made and really delicious. All the food was spectacular. It was only $15 for a pitcher of beer, too, which we enjoyed as the kids played in the splash area.

One bad event this evening though was that A has been in a cat/pony/polar bear phase where she enjoys crawling on the ground like one of those animals. It's super annoying. And disgusting, when she does it in a public restroom or a gas station shop. Anyway, she was doing this around the pool and I thought nothing of it, until she came running up to me screaming about her foot hurting. Sure enough, she had crawled like a cat so much that the concrete floor of the pool scraped all the skin off the top of her foot!
View attachment 317742
The life guard was amazing and brought us a huge stack of bandaids. And because kids are resilient, this didn't seem to stop her from trying to crawl like a cat/pony/polar bear for the rest of the week, either. In fact, the ONLY time she complained about her foot... and this is going to really shock you.... was when I made her walk
We gave the kids a quick bath and tucked them into bed, then finished our beer on the patio until the mosquitoes came out well after dark. At that time, we crawled into bed ourselves and day one came to a close.
I had wondered what happened with your pups. I am sure the changes must be rough on Lulu. You are truly lucky that you have people so willing to help you out. That is so important when dealing with such stressful life changes. So happy Lulu had a wonderful vacation as well!I have to pause right here and talk about my dog..... Toulouse and I have been together for more than 8 years. I got her as a puppy when I was stationed at Fort Bragg and it was just her and I against the world for years. She's always had anxiety though and annoyingly licks the couch or her paws all day. Lately, due to a fairly recent divorce and the subsequent absence of my ex and our other dog (who went with him in the divorce) her anxiety has kicked into overdrive. So much that I've had to start giving her a doggy version of prozac. I felt truly awful about leaving her for Disney at a time where she's already struggling. Like.... the pit of my stomach was in knots about how difficult this could be for my puppers, sitting in a cold kennel all alone, wondering if I would ever come back, wondering why everyone she loved abandoned her.
So when my friend offered for Lulu to stay at her house, I jumped at the chance. I was still worried she'd be a hot mess, but at least she'd be around people all day. Good people. But not people who have pets. So if she was too much work we have another friend who fosters dogs who offered to step in. As great as all that was, I was still worried.
I had no need to be worried..... except that she might pretend not to know me when I got home
They picked out dog movies to watch with her for movie night

They snuggled her on the couch

Took her hiking

Took her on daily walks

Tucked her in every night and even bought her a stuffed unicorn to sleep with...

They made her feel right at home. This is not the look of a stressed out, anxiety ridden, lonely dog

I am beyond grateful for the people in my life.
