Fountain View Ice Cream closing in early April for Starbucks conversion

I'm really interested to see how look and feel of this particular Starbucks will be. They can't go with the mellow and dark tones of your typcial Starbucks given this location in Epcot. I hope they do something unique, dare I say, futuristic.

I didn't really mind all that much with Starbucks in MK since it's still selling backed goods. But they're putting one in place of ice cream? An area close by more kid-related attractions and the character store? Last year we were having ice cream by the fountain and the place was packed with people. I'm never a huge complainer about this stuff, but this one is a bad move.

Not sure why, but we have never been to Fountain View Ice Cream during any of our trips. Truth be told, I'm not even sure where it is/was, although I'm going to guess ... near the fountain; hence the name.
I am even less likely to go visit after its conversion to Starbuck's.
Florida in August/September: ice cream - good, hot coffee - not so much.

Another good thing bites the dust in the paving of more NON-Disney crap coming to the parks. When did Disney stop being innovative, creative and forward thinking and only worry about the MBA mentality of how can we have less of our own product and get more profit so I don’t have to do any work and think of something on my own.

They built a coffee place between Imagination and The Land. There is a coffee place between UOE and WOL building tell me why they need another one right in the middle of Epcot walkway. I believe there is one directly on the left hand side when you walk into World showcase as well. The reason they need another one is Oh yeah so Disney doesn’t have to run it and have anything different than anything else. Seriously if they want to add something then add something stop taking out the stuff that people like and actually add something.

I understand they are a business but it used to be people were happy to open their wallets to the mouse because it was something you could not get anywhere else. Now it seems more and more as if it is the same thing you can get everywhere, just at Disney prices.

I know I would love TDO to bring something that you could only get at Disney sort of like the Honey Lemon Cupcake from the hungry Bear in Disneyland.

I just see this as another way of TDO “Walmarting” Disney World and losing what it is that a lot of truly enjoy about Disney.

It's a wonder that everyone around here doesn't pull a muscle jumping to conclusions. Is there any reason that you can think of as to why they cannot continue to sell ice cream after Starbucks is in there. It's still not a Starbucks store, it's a Starbucks location. There is a difference. We as a group have beat this Starbucks horse to death when it was announced for MK. Are we going to start it all over again only to find out that nothing was lost and only a brand of coffee was gained.

I'll wait until I see what they offer and if it turns out that there is no Ice Cream anymore, I'll Scream for Ice Cream along with you. ;)

Why? There is only one answer to any "why" question at WDW. $!
I agree with you on that except they seem to lost the fact that it is VERY short sighted. I know I will NEVER go in there because 1 I don't drink drink coffee, 2 I hate the idea of companies coming in to take the place of things that should be done in the Disney way and the Disney style which means quality. Now it seems that the only thing they care about is the direct ROI line MBA mentality of TDO for everything.

I think it is money but I also think it is they are becoming very complacent and very lazy.

Meh. Starbucks sucks - and it's not like they need MORE locations... Especially in WDW. I can get it on every street corner in the real world. I'd rather WDW continue to do their own, unique thing. Part of why I go there.

Well the crap they've been serving for years is certainly unique to WDW. Can't get a worse cup of coffee anywhere else. Seriously, whether or not someone hates Starbucks, ANYTHING is better than Nescafe (to be more specific, the way WDW prepares Nescafe)

I would hope that you are right and it is only a place to get that and still sell Ice cream. I just see it as the size of the counter that is at a typical Starbucks is about the same size as the one that is there now. I cant see them being able to fit both of them in there at the same time without selling just prepackaged ice creams.

Outside companies and labels have had a presence inside the parks since the beginning, the opening day of Disneyland. This isn't anything new. The Starbucks will be themed accordingly. You have nothing to worry about.
