Wow...you acknowledged a point even if you don’t really support it?

...an amazing talent 😎

Hey I do it all the time. I'm the gal that always admits that wdw is crazy expensive.
What point, lol that they jack up the prices annually. Sorry I say that all the time.

The difference is I also admit that Disney does not OWE me an affordable vacation.
No one is forcing anyone to purchase any thing the mouse world peddles.
You guys seem to be stuck in some pertual loop of "Disney is supposed to be affordable " or "Disney is supposed to be like it was in ____"

I think folks are mad that there isn't some phoney "outrage"

Season tickets do not compare to a week stay by millions of individual travel parties needed to properly fund a Disney park operation...

There aren’t that many psls on earth.

And there is a correlation at WDW...it’s called DVC and that has an upfront Buy in and “yearly ticket” costs associated with...

I don’t care they jumped the price...but can we please stop talking about football and broadway? The aggregate cost and the target audience...ie not all WDW travelers should be expected to comply with 42nd street pricing.

First off, my season tickets are 10 games...so that's 10 DAYS x the number of seats I have...

HELLO!!!!! YOU'RE IN A RESORT!!!! No, it's not the French Riviera, but IT"S A RESORT...do you REALLY think Disney is going to charge LESS because it's Disney, and some people on a web site are complaining? IT'S A RESORT

Yep they do. They really think because it's "Disney" it's all pixie dust and then they get mad when you say "Don't do it". You think drink prices are insane?? Easy, don't buy the drinks. Way too many ways to get around it

Just one more reason why it will be a long time before I go back.
Seen everything at WDW dozens of times, price to get in at the Gates, Insane Security EVERYWHERE, Crowds, and now gouging prices.

Again...I don’t really care. I just don’t like when New York prices are used as a “normal” comparison. They are not.
Yeah, they kinda are considering most people in the US tend to live in a metropolitan area, and things are naturally more expensive in metropolitan areas...maybe not a expensive as NYC, but Boston, Philly, LA, Chicago...it's not just the NE

Not that they are apples to apples but I recently looked at some old concert tickets and I noticed in an 18 year period the tickets for a band in their prime was 30 bucks in 2000, just saw them this year and they are a bit past their prime and they were $95. That's for 2 hours of entertainment. That's not even including the crazy beer and food prices ($5 dollar bottles of water). I say all that to bring some perspective on why some of us don't really flench at small increases like these at WDW. They are expected and a reality of most businesses.

For many it is not the 50 cents or a dollar increase here and there but the cumulative price increases in snacks, drinks, food, resort fees, park tickets, added parking fees etc. that becomes an issue. Still like Disney and going in May but will be cutting my discretionary spending considerable.
That's FINE...you're a smart consumer...I applaud that...look, I totally agree with the people who say it's too expensive....you shouldn't have to take out a home equity loan to pay for a trip...if a family has to cut back on spending to be able to afford a trip to the world, that's what has to be done, but I'm not going to complain about being on vacation, in a RESORT, and having to pay 5 bucks for a bottle of water or soda.

Out of curiosity, what do DVC members think of this?
So I'm a dvc member, own at the beach club.
I don't speak for them all.
For the most part the reason why we purchased a dvc is to hedge against rising cost. Most of us knew the prices were going to rise so by locking in our room it was a way to keep prices a little lower and next many of us purchased so we would not be held hostage by this sort of thing.
We always get a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen. We buy a case of water from walmart, freeze them overnight and have cold water through out the day.
Also our dvc card gives us discounts at a lot on site resort restaurants. 10%
And a 15% discount on merchandise.

One of the heaviest areas for WDW travel is Ontario and the upper rust belt...

So Pittsburgh, Cleveland, detroit, Milwaukee, Columbus, etc...

Have you been?

I grew up in the shadow of the mill...but because I live between philly and New York now doesn’t mean I think all areas correspond.

I’ll meet you at midway for a sausage and peppers with gravy if you want to talk about it 😎

But saying all areas are like the eastern seaboard is not accurate.

This isn’t a controversial stance and I don’t care how much they charge me for a churro...so I don’t know why I have to pick up the banner on the battlefield on this one??

I'm not "mad" at the increases, but for my family of 5 $30 is a lot to pay for mickey bars...

I don't get the comparison to football games. They have about 8 games a year. I understand why they charge what they do. They only have the captive audience for approximately 40 hours a year.

WDW has a captive audience for...... ~3650 hours......A tiny difference.....

And then theres the whole 400k people vs 30 million people angle.....

Don't drink soda and we typically bring/buy a case of water. We breakfast in our rooms and don't typically buy snacks, except churros which will probably stop now on principle. Can we afford a $6.25 churrro, sure as we can, but we wont support their pricing decisions where we dont have to. Overall, were mostly indifferent but have been scaling back our TS dining as, IMO, the food quality resort wide has been lacking especially for the price. All this increasing is just making DCL trips more enticing for us.

I have DVC and never set foot in the kitchen...I do that at home.

I bought becusee I know the beast and the hotels were gonna get jacked into low orbit...primarily to sell DVC. They can’t resist the allure of no housekeeping.

But I don’t care what they charge me for the snacks...I’m on vacation.

But I don’t think I have the authority to tell everyone they shoudn’t care.
