not shocked by these prices at all.[/QUOTE]
nobody complains when their house goes up in value of they get higher interest payments in their money market account. It is all part of the same system. Learn to smell the 🌹. Pat Boone or someone.

When the market drops you loose money. If your house goes up in value it's not money in your pocket unless you sell it and some one wants to pay your price otherwise it means nothing except higher taxes. When has WDW every dropped prices on such things as soda/water. etc. ?

I don’t care they jumped the price...but can we please stop talking about football and broadway? The aggregate cost and the target audience...ie not all WDW travelers should be expected to comply with 42nd street pricing.

It's not that Sir, it's just IMO I think folks have this unrealistic view that WDW is some "special" otherworldly place that does not follow the normal patterns of the rest of the REAL world.

Airline fees up.
museum cost (except the smithsonian which of course is probably one of the few last freebies)
You want to talk the cost of soda? lol try on a cruise if you don't get a soda package.

maybe wdw visitors shouldn't expect to comply with 42nd street pricing but they should realistically comply with any other captive vacation destination.

so I'll make a deal, I'll knock if off with comparing it to Broadway if folks stop comparing it to
1) what they buy at home
2) what they were 15 years ago.

If we are going to be realistic don't be one sided. it's ridiculous, every other thing in life goes up in price but let's have a freaky deaky meltdown when WDW raises it's prices.

What's the cost of a soda at Universal?

lol oh wait never mind I found some prices. surprise surprise, not much cheaper. bottle of coke 3.29, souvie cup and soda 15.99
I did find a bottle of water for 3.00 bucks. Monster energy drink was 5 bucks.

This was just a quick cursory search and the prices listed were from feb 2017

“Don’t like it don’t go”

“These prices are in line with Baseball stadium prices”

“Disney is a business”

Yes, we already know those three things. No need for the usual suspects to post those hot takes ad naseum.
But all the usual suspects complaining about the price increases is ok?

Again...I don’t really care. I just don’t like when New York prices are used as a “normal” comparison. They are not.

Not being well versed in business models can someone explain what companies base their price increases
on? The current inflation rate is 2.7% so these greater than 15% increases can't be based on that

Agreed. and I don't like when "home" prices are used as a normal comparison. If one does any type of traveling one has to know things are much higher at the vacation venue.

Do you fly? because most airports will charge 3.50 for a bottle of soda and since you can't get liquids through the security, one is stuck paying the outrageous prices.

That's not a fair comparison, Universal doesn't have as many theme parks as WDW so a guest is only captive 4 days instead of 7. Please only compare prices from other 4 park destinations. :)

I work for a Chemical/pharmaceutical giant. One, we look at the market, we stay competitive to our competition. So yeah if we see that our competitor is charging 9 bucks for a widget, we are going to charge at least that more probably more if we think our product is better.
If it is a new customer we may cut them a deal just to get our foot in the door.

Price increases rarely go by inflation alone. We have transportation cost, R&D cost, marketing cost, regulation cost. if any or all of them go up, the price of the product will rise.

which would be where?? lol. Maybe that's the problem, lol we live and breath the Disney bubble.

Truthfully though I think that's why many families return to Disney even with the price increases because they look around to the other family options and recognize that every where else is just as high.

If a .50 cent increase is going to cause you to cancel your vacation than so be it. I buy the outrageously priced Butterbeer at Uni (usually to share with MDW), because I am there and I like it, so I buy it. You can gladly bring in your own bottle and fill it for...wait for it...free

It's an interesting strategy. Instead of trying to attract more guests, they are going to alienate more, while trying to extract more profit from those who stay. Honestly it's a huge gamble. Sure, $0.50 isn't much on the surface. But, looking at the additions this year:

$15 parking fee
$0.50 for a drink X 3 people X 3 times a day = $3
$1 extra for a snack X 3 people X 2 times a day = $6
$3 extra for a meal X 3 people X 1 a day = $9
$2 extra for a meal X 3 people X 1 a day = $6
Total = $39 X 4 day stay = $156 extra for a trip (this also does not include how much your ticket price is about to rise).

Things add up, so it's not quite as inconsequential as it seems. I think for me it's also the shock of a raise of everywhere that has me double taking.

I think the stance...and granted it’s not the perfect one...is that you don’t go
To an airport on Sunday and leave a week later. Nor do you at a concert...or a football game.

Only other vacation spots with that length is really valid.

But I don’t think this is about a churro or a cup of Dr. Pepper. It’s the aggregrate increase in prices for the last few years
That just comes out on individual prices as “rage”. Slow burn is my take.

The problem is that “what the market will bare” isn’t an effective way to ease this angst. People like some semblance of confidence/stability in their prices...they don’t want to consider “the market” at every moment...especially on vacation.

And this is where the iger management looks bad...they have constantly futzed with things on a whole new level. It would be a good tactic to leave SOME things alone for a customer base that is made up of a lot of repeat customers. They notice the little things...though aren’t good at setting limits to disney due to lack of self control.

You honestly think this will alienate more? Because they couldn't get their Churro for same price they could last year? I am not on board with most of the increases I have seen over the years, but this is just business as usual.

The answer is no...

But you now have posed some form of “so you honestly think....?” Question numerous times without considering what several have given as the reason why they perceive it matters...

I’m not saying to agree or disagree with the take...but often what happens here is the stance is ignored to ask the same question over and over again...on both “sides”...

Throw this log on the fire.
