Fort Wilderness DVC Resort plans for former River Country land

IIRC someone on here was talking about these back in 2011 or 2012. Cannot quite remember now exactly what thread but I would love to find it. It may have been the FW DVC thread that never died.

I remember that too. I think there was talk of the stables moving also. So has this project been revived or is the Twitter account posting old outdated information?

As they offer zero insight on the twitter page, I'm going with the latter. And hoping I'm correct.

On top of the 2 parking lots it looks like they are removing some of the beach for cart parking. There is a new building to the east of the Meadows trading post.

One of the resident insiders would have to answer that. I do not know. If I get a chance I will weed through that thread and see.

interesting you still see the right of way and tracks on the schematic drawing for the old Fort Wilderness train

The DVC at the Fort Wilderness Lodge is pretty popular, which is where this concept came from, but I think Disney began to realize that these "stand alone" DVCs (Saratoga Springs, Animal Kingdom) don't sell as well as the ones attached to an existing resort. So This was cancelled in favor of building DVCs around the monorail resorts
AKV sold pretty well, it was just a lot of points, now GFV...

This just looks like dated information leaked untimely to start unecessary rumors - whether intentional or not.

We just bought AKL at a discount. The ones at grand Floridian are too pompous for me. I would love if they made ones on discovery island. That would be fun.

I would buy at Fort Wilderness since I love it there.

As already mentioned there were many other prelim drawings the were circulated back about 3 years ago. I believe there were permits actually filed with South Florida Water Management District for this proposed resort. This info was leaked or found prior to any public info on the GF DVC to my understanding. It seemed like the extreme interest for potential buyers and actual buyers wanting to be in a monorail resort along with BLT's ability to garner a high per point price shifted direction away from the Fort over to the GF and now Poly. In retrospect. if it wasn't for the immediate success of BLT then there already may have been a Fort Wilderness DVC resort already. I would expect DVC to be added to the Fort Wilderness in the future. Pending the market will continue to support DVC point sales.

As seen in the existing plans, Pioneer hall would be demolished along with the Tri-Circle D ranch and River Country would also be finally put out of it's misery. Then the existing peninsula of land between the Fort's dock and River Country was to be enlarged slightly to accommodate a wing of the resort extending out into Bay Lake. I do not remember what was planned to replace Pioneer Hall or I should say where it's replacement was to be located. Again this was what was derived off of the prelim DWG's and that will all change I'm sure if it does ever get built.

Disney already has TWO DVC/hotels themed to wildlife - Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge. Enough already! Why can't it build a DVC that's castle-based, like the Excalibur in Las Vegas? I'd buy a DVC membership in a minute for something like that. Or one that's steeped in Pirates imagery (not in a kiddie way like at AoA). What's with all the wilderness schtick?
