Trip Report Forget about your worries and your strife. 🌞 Live trip report.

Quick recap of my pre-trip report to refresh memories or as just as catchup.
I (Mimi) am going on a solo trip to Disney World, 14 glorious days at AKL to do what I want, when I want.:joyfull:

This morning I woke up excited and ready to go, I threw the last things into my suitcase, double checked everything and happily went out in the rain to catch the bus to the train station. I gave myself plenty of time to get to the airport incase of delays etc. but luckily everything went smoothly and I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to share.
I looked around the shops a bit and took some photos to kill the time.

These cups in a cafe don't spin but are cute none the less.

Finally it was time to board my first flight.

This add made me smile as it was spot on.:)

The flight from Amsterdam to London was only 50 minutes and kind of boring except for the 2 Dutch ladies sitting in the row behind me. They were very unhappy that none of the flight attendants spoke Dutch, keep in mind that this was a British Airways flight, and complained loudly that it shouldn't be allowed for airlines to fly out of Amsterdam without at least one Dutch speaking crew member and the ladies refused to speak English to the crew. I didn't understand their logical at all and was happy the crew members didn't understand what they were saying. I was tempted to turn around to point out their stupidity but refrained. 🙊

Soon enough we landed safely at Gatwick, my hotel was easy to find and the check in staff were friendly and professional. My room is as expected, small and modern.

The shower is right in front of the toilet without a barrier:hilarious: not the best layout but fine for just a night.

No view as my room doesn't have a window.
Now I am just watching some TV, wishing it was tomorrow.:)

After lunch it was time for my next fast pass, a meeting with the big Mouse himself.
I am super awkward during meet and greets anyway but being jetlagged made it even worse. It started of well by being handed one of these.

The waiting area had some fun posters and props.

When it is my turn to meet Mickey we chat about my ears and how my day has been, so far so good. Then this happens
MICKEY: So pal what are you going to do next?
ME: Well Mickey I am tired so I am going back to my hotel to have a nap.
MICKEY: Oh a nap sounds nice, I would like to have a nap as well.
ME: You can sleep with me Mickey.

The photographer was laughing pretty hard and said How about just a picture with Mickey?
This photo is when we were still talking about my ears.

After my accidental pass at Mickey I did go back to the hotel for a much needed nap.
I set my alarm for 1 hour but could probably have slept the whole afternoon.
That is the most interesting Mickey encounter EVER!:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

After a 24 minute ride (info for you @Songbird76) we arrived and I skipped through bag check and up Main Street.
The Welcome show was just starting but I didn't want to run to see it. I'll watch it some other day. I just stood and watched the castle for a bit. After that it was time for Starbucks, it was busy but I was in and out in 12 minutes.
I walked past a lonely photopass photographer. We had a nice chat about my name which he read of my cup.

I strolled underneath the castle and just let it sink in I was really here.
I slowly made my way over to my traditional first ride, Haunted Mansion. It was a walk on but I chatted with the CM awhile so I could finish my coffee. View attachment 257291

A great Mansion but I am not ready to become a permanent resident.

After a large coffee it was time to visit the most talked about bathroom on property.

Ah thank you! 24 minutes...wow...that's pretty hefty. I'll have to keep that in mind that should we stay there, we need to leave plenty early.
Now I'm curious about your name...does it have traditional dutch sounds in it? It took me 2 months to learn my new last name, because we don't have the glottal sound of the first letter in English, and I could roll my Rs, but not really flip it instead of a long roll. I also once had an argument with a Canadian about how to pronounce Nijmegen. He walked the 4 dagse with the Canadian military and he said I was pronouncing it wrong because he couldn't make the ij sound. That's a hard one for Americans.

My first name isn't that hard just unusual for English speakers and they never know how to spell it or pronounce it properly so I just use Mimi most of the time with English speakers.

I liked the new Soaring, it is beautifully done but I think I liked the old California version just a tiny bit better. Like a lot of people I wish they offered both versions.
After Soaring it made sense to ride LWTL especially since it was a walk on. I still love this ride, so relaxing and educational.
Some CM's were cleaning the rocks in the water with little brushes.

It was time for my first FP so I was of to see the world, from space this time. Green side only for me, I had read mixed reviews but I actually enjoyed it. Yes, it is a very mild ride however it was pretty and you still got to experience lift off and landing.
I finally had time to hit up Starbucks and since the weather is much warmer today I drank it outside while enjoying the Winter hill Highschool Jazz band.
Cute cupcake at Starbucks.

Sunny view of the band.

The large dose of caffeine gave me courage to go see the leader of the pack again.

This meet and greet went much better, Mickey was very attentive not just to me but all the guests. Lots of fun to watch even when waiting.
