Trip Report Forget about your worries and your strife. 🌞 Live trip report.

Quick recap of my pre-trip report to refresh memories or as just as catchup.
I (Mimi) am going on a solo trip to Disney World, 14 glorious days at AKL to do what I want, when I want.:joyfull:

This morning I woke up excited and ready to go, I threw the last things into my suitcase, double checked everything and happily went out in the rain to catch the bus to the train station. I gave myself plenty of time to get to the airport incase of delays etc. but luckily everything went smoothly and I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to share.
I looked around the shops a bit and took some photos to kill the time.

These cups in a cafe don't spin but are cute none the less.

Finally it was time to board my first flight.

This add made me smile as it was spot on.:)

The flight from Amsterdam to London was only 50 minutes and kind of boring except for the 2 Dutch ladies sitting in the row behind me. They were very unhappy that none of the flight attendants spoke Dutch, keep in mind that this was a British Airways flight, and complained loudly that it shouldn't be allowed for airlines to fly out of Amsterdam without at least one Dutch speaking crew member and the ladies refused to speak English to the crew. I didn't understand their logical at all and was happy the crew members didn't understand what they were saying. I was tempted to turn around to point out their stupidity but refrained. 🙊

Soon enough we landed safely at Gatwick, my hotel was easy to find and the check in staff were friendly and professional. My room is as expected, small and modern.

The shower is right in front of the toilet without a barrier:hilarious: not the best layout but fine for just a night.

No view as my room doesn't have a window.
Now I am just watching some TV, wishing it was tomorrow.:)

Glad you arrived okay! I would have been very scared as well. But great rebound thinking and making a solid plan. Your morning looks awesome! That zebra shadow on your sliding doors looks beautiful. I hope you have a magical day
Thanks, I always feel better when I have a plan but I sure was happy I didn't need to fly all the way back to Schiphol.

Woohoo! It's still there! Did you bring a sign so all the Magic forum members can find you? Lol
Psst: see if someone can give you a solid answer as to where it went, Gaston totally brushed it off.
I plan to stop by Guest Relations to ask about the chair. It was crazy busy at the tavern this morning so didn't want to bother a CM.
No sign, didn't think of that, maybe next time;)

I am glad you were able to get through immigration reasonably unscathed

Enjoy your trip

Max
I can see that you are an expert at solo travel

(talking to photographers and CM at HM)

Disney parks worldwide truly bring total strangers together in a positive setting that allows you to lower your guard and just talk to other people about common interests.

Of course, as you probably already guessed I have never had a problem with doing this.
My DDs just say " Dad's making new friends again"

Max
Thanks Max, I have travelled solo a lot and it does teach you to talk to a lot of different people, but it is never easier than at Disney World, another reason I like to come here.

After a 24 minute ride (info for you @Songbird76) we arrived and I skipped through bag check and up Main Street.
The Welcome show was just starting but I didn't want to run to see it. I'll watch it some other day. I just stood and watched the castle for a bit. After that it was time for Starbucks, it was busy but I was in and out in 12 minutes.
I walked past a lonely photopass photographer. We had a nice chat about my name which he read of my cup.

I strolled underneath the castle and just let it sink in I was really here.
I slowly made my way over to my traditional first ride, Haunted Mansion. It was a walk on but I chatted with the CM awhile so I could finish my coffee. View attachment 257291

A great Mansion but I am not ready to become a permanent resident.

After a large coffee it was time to visit the most talked about bathroom on property.

After enjoying the warmth of the Tangled bathroom I wanted to go and see Enchanted Tales with Belle. I missed this 2 years ago so it was high on my list.
The wait was inside, a bonus in this cold.

I didn't have to wait long before I could join the FP villagers.
I got this picture of Mauruce's work table.

I enjoyed seeing all the kids play their parts and having fun. It is such a sweet little show.

Then it was time for my first FP.

I love me some Pooh:inlove:

I walked to Gaston's Tavern to check on his chairs, after making sure all was well I browsed a bit in the shop next door.
How cute is this bag?

To get out of the cold I decided to go under the sea. It is such a cheerful ride with the music and colours.
The que is cute as well with the jumping crabs.

It seemed impolite not to visit Ariel since she was right next door.
Guess what we talked about?

If you guessed the weather you would be correct.

I was starting to feel the jetlag and getting hungry so I was glad it was time for my early lunch at BOG.
There was a very long line checking in but it went fast and I had my yellow rose in no time.
I paid for my food and found a spot in the Rose wing.
DSC_0156.JPG

My food came out within 10 minutes, I had ordered a turkey sandwich with sweet potato wedges and peach apple sauce from the kids menu.
DSC_0157.JPG

Not the best photo but than again it wasn't the best food. The wedges were cold and soggy, the sandwich was okay but I wouldn't have it again.
After my early lunch I headed towards the exit for a rest at my hotel but not before I put my foot in it by propositioning Mickey.

Yay! I'm so glad you made it there and are at my fave resort ever! I love travelling this time of year and love the cold (I'm from the North so that's actually warm to me in FL in January)!:hilarious:
That was really scary at customs but so glad everything worked out.

Looking forward to more of your trip, keep those pics coming, especially if you can get any of the giraffes. :inlove:

I think it might be too cold for the giraffes as I haven't seen any yet.

Even I've been in it and I've only been to WDW once :hilarious::hilarious:

2009 was my last year before 2015..not sure if they were there back then. T has used the Tangled ones, because he’s an every 10minutes kind of kid..I try not to drink too much because I don’t like splitting up for the restroom...I usually only go inside one while we’re at a restaurant.
