Okay, just wondering if everyone else has gotten this in their email inbox. I have to warn you, if you haven't seen the ad, and you love kitties, it may disturb you. I happen to have a very warped sense of humor, so of course you know I think it's funny. But I still love kitties!!:D

Well, you warned me. I just had to click.

It's NOT a real Ford ad, folks!! Don't expect to see something you could see on TV.

Nope, sorry to say it's a real ad. It only aired in Europe promoting Ford's SportKa vehicle. This is not a vehicle you'll find in America. Apparently it created a huge uproar when it aired originally and they replaced it with an ad where the hood comes up to swat a pigeon away. You can read all about it here.

I do have a sense of humor, but when you're constantly cleaning up after other people's irresponsible actions where animals are concerned, unfortunately you don't find these things so funny anymore.

:(

LOL No, that wasn't meant to be against you. But I am telling you, there are some sick people out there!

Oh, yes. Sick people? I know all about them since I see plenty of them in court. Well, PETA definitely got involved if that makes you feel any better.

Well I didn't look at it. If Erika didn't like it then I know it will make me angry. Three things you don't mess with around me. Children, old people, and animals.

I was afraid to ask if it was real or not, not knowing whether the fact that it was made overseas might mean looser standards.

I'll just believe the article and assume it was a CGI trick....*shudders*

(Not criticizing anyone who finds it funny...it's just not my thing. I'm gonna be seeing that image in my head all night.) :dazzle:

Actually, I read a news blurb on this saying it never actually aired.

An ad firm created this concept, and Ford rejected it outright. However, someone went on to create it for their own kicks... and then leaked it out. Ford, needless to say, was furious.

Ford furious? Please. This is just like the Nike ad where they guy leaps off the bridge not wearing Nikes and he drops to his death. They're getting so much mileage off of this because now people are going to go look at the car that's involved in the ad. Yawn. Spin cycle.

I guess you are correct. That is, if they can disassociate themselves from any responsibility in the initial creation of the ad.

Good god, what an aweful advertisement. I don't even like cats, but that was really horrible. I do hope it was a CGI trick. I thought the pidgeon one was funny though.

No worries. They'd be in deeeeeep trouble if it were a real cat.

I've seen the pigeon one...and I laughed...I saw the cat one...and got a feeling like I should've be watching it. It would've been "better" if the cat's head got stuck and the back started hopping around...and then the "car" let it go...(teaching it a lesson)...but to actually show the head fall on the inside...and then the body slide down windshield...not in good taste at all.

(Although, on a side note...that SportKa...they just made a convertible version)
