Is Intamin a better company when it comes to building this kind of coaster? I'm not very familiar with the companies.:brick: I was just wondering. Thanks for all the pics Lee.

Intamin is a better company.

Other than "X", which has had numerous problems over the last year, Arrow (which is now S&S/Arrow) has not done many steel coasters lately. Considering their recent track record, I am doubting their involvement in this ride, despite their long relationship with Disney.

Now that the two RnRC twins are up, I don't think there is a deal in place with Vekoma.

Disney has never, and probably never will, work with B&M.

Intamin has sort of become the leader in steel coasters lately, with Xcelerator, Top Thrill Dragster, Millinneum Force and California Screamin as just a couple of examples. Roumor has it that Intamin is doing the new Space Mountains in Hong Kong and Disneyland. So, all things considered, they are my leading candidate.

But who knows? Anything is possible. I am actively trying to get some hard info on this.

S&S Arrow is kind of variable at the moment, as their rides can range from very reliable (the S&S factor) to disasterous (what Arrow turned into before they were bought out).

Intamin is a pretty reliable company, as their portfolio includes such projects as Xcelerator, Millennium Force, the refurb of Jaws, and the EMV for Disney's Indiana Jones Adventure (a collaborative effort with Imagineering). However, they are not without blemishes either, as Kali River Rapids's rafts were a maintenance nightmare thanks to poor craftsmanship on the part of Intamin.

That being said, Intamin has a lot of experience in other fields besides roller coasters, and with a project like Forbidden Mountain that might come in handy. My money is on Intamin.

[EDIT: In my search for links I was beaten in leaving some information about the two companies, but I am leaving the post up anyway because there are many other facets to Intamin than just coasters.]

Coasterforce.com has info on all the companies. Intamin has the box-like track desing and the triangle design. Their cars have stadium seating for good viewing. Arrow uses the steel tubeing attached to a main big steel tube as their track design. It's very rough and worse than Intamin. But if they use an LIM lift hill like CS, then it's Intamin all the way.

My money is on Intamin.

Actually, just today Screamscape says that it could well be Vekoma.

He must have heard something recently, because as of a week or two ago Lance and I were in agreement that it probably would NOT be Vekoma.

Interesting...

Well so far Screamscape has been the most accurate of all the rumor websites on Forbidden Mountain. Pretty much everything they predicted happened so I don't see why you hesitate to trust anything that it says. :veryconfu

Because, in the past, Screamscape has been wrong with 95% of the things they say. Their sources are no where near as good as Steve's sources are, which is why they have so many more updates--they filter very little.

Screamscape has at least one excellent source that I know of in the area of coaster manufacturers. Someone who deals with them directly, and is very well informed about their contracts and such. Where they go wrong is in the park details, not in actual coaster company info.

Is this particular rumor true? I don't know. I've got many feelers out and nobody seems to know for sure.

Speaking of Steve, is it just me or has he not been strangely quiet about all this? The only info he has provided lately is the shareholders meeting statement.

My money is on Intamin, for their overall reliability and ride quality.... They've done MANY porjects with Disney, and manufactured California Screaming and Indiana Jones Temple of Peril in Paris, and I have a feeling that if Intamin is affiliated with this project, Everest will include elements of Screaming (LIM launching and breaking), Indy Paris (backwards; mine train looking track), and hopefully, their Hyper / Giga / Rocket stadium seating trains (of course heavily themed!)....

Vekoma would be my second choice, due to their work on both R-N-R-C's, but I hope not because of their typical roughness and less than stellar reliability....

Arrow/ S&S has potential, mostly due to S&S's creativity, but I'm not a huge Arrow fan.......

Where Vekoma goes wrong, in general, is with their fast, outdoor coasters. Their slower coasters don't suffer as much wear and tear, and the indoor, fast ones (like RnR) don't suffer from the weather (I know our version is currently broken, but it is still a smooth ride). It is the combination of weather and speed that tends to ruin Vekoma rides, most likely due to construction--Vekoma outdoor coasters tend to get more and more painful as the years go by. Given that this coaster is mostly outdoors, I would definitely go with Intamin-AG. They have built reliable outdoor coasters for years--Superman Ride of Steel, at Six Flags Darien Lake, has been open for four seasons and it still smooth, and we all know that California Screamin' is still very smooth (despite audio problems that I hope they fix for Screamin' and before Everest opens, to avoid the same problems), even after the sometimes harsh California weather (usually beautiful, but they do get violent weather...). Beyond that, Disney World has yet to have the privilege of having an Intamin-AG coaster...I think it's time. On the other side of the argument, Vekoma did build Disney's last mine train coaster, Big Thunder Mountain in Paris...and since Everest is a mine train coaster...you make the connection. Anything is possible, but my pick is still Intamin-AG:cool:
