Forbidden Journey Questions

I need help! We are going to be visiting US and IOA for 1 day in January. I keep reading stuff about the Forbidden Journey having "size" issues with the seats. My husband is 6ft. 280lbs, will he be able to ride? I know they changed the seats at some point and I know they offer trial seats but if he still isn't going to be able to ride then I would like to let him know before we get there. Can anyone explain the changes they made and whether "large" people are able to go on the ride??? :shrug:

He may be able to go on it without using the new modified seats. It all depends on where all his weight is. If he has a huge waist area than he may have to use the modified seating, otherwise if his weight is evenly distributed throughout his body and he doesn't have a huge waist than he should have no problem fitting in the normal seats. here is a link to an article about the modified seats and it shows a picture of the restraint on the ride.

I would not be too concerned. Don't let it ruin a great time either way. I know how hard that sounds.

Essentially what they did to the seats on the two furthest end seats of every ride vehicle is allow the computer to be ok with less clicks. There is nothing actually different to the seats.

I require the use of the modified seating on the ends of the ride vehicle and I am 5 foot 11 and 300 pounds. It is a snug fit but by no means uncomfortable like when I ride some rollercoasters.

There is definately a nice test seat outside and when it gets super busy they have a greeter out there with it to confirm if you can ride any seat, need the modified seating or unfortunately will not be able to ride. They are very nice about it and there is a yellow bulb and a green bulb. yellow means modified and green means good for any seat.

I rode forbidden journey last week and it wasn't an issue at all. I am a relatively big person (6 foot 1 and 240 lbs). Enjoy your trip. The whole Harry Potter land is amazing!

Thank you! I am really really looking forward to IOA and WWoHP! My son and I have become total HP nerds and can't wait til we can walk through Hogsmeade! :ROFLOL:

it really depends on the size of the shoulders and waist. Im 6'2'' 240 lbs and my shoulders are too wide to alllow me to move far enough back into the seat. But dwight howard (orlando magic center) can fit into it easily. Even if he is too big to ride still have him join you through the queue. Its easily ones of the coolest waits in any park.

You can bet the employees of the attraction or whoever helped him in gave him a nice push down on the harness to help that fit. Typically they are insntructed not to do that due to possibly exerting themselves. For PR Reasons, that will go right out the window.

And god forbid that an employee go out of their way and actually "exert" themselves.

Such a cushy job, don't want to possibly move any more muscles than absolutely necessary.

I doubt it has anything to do with team members "exerting" themselves. Pushing down on a guest's restraint can be a safety hazard for the guest.

Your feet are dangling for the duration of the ride.

In dangly feet terms it is like Soarin mixed with an inverted rollercoaster, don't let this put you off though, hopefully the immersive expeirence will distract you from the feet issue!

By inverted, he means one like Montu, Raptor, or Batman: The Ride, but it doesn't fling you upside down like those rides or Rock'n'Rollercoaster.

It will be worth it I assure you. Think of it like a new age Haunted Mansion mixed with Peter Pan's flight witha dash of Horizons..only your feet get to comfortably hang. The feeling of having your feet firmly planted on the conveyer belt smoothly raise up is in my opinion a 'magical' sensation.

^ Yes, and it's about 3/4 of the way through the ride, at the Whomping Willow part.
