For the ladies...

ok so totally random question, and I didn't know the best place to post it?!

Have any of you found any hair product that really stands up to the humidity in FL?? I have straight hair that absolutely goes nuts with the humidity. Even after living there for 5 months, I still never found anything! Now my whole family is heading out there and they're asking me for suggestions...?? Has anyone found anything that actually works?? And yes, I've been laughing at myself the whole time I was typing this!!

let me try

I have long think hair and this is what I do in Florida:
Shampoo my hair, scrubing my scalp especially around the hairline, and leave it on for as little time as possible and then I heavily condition it and leave it on for the rest of my shower while I shave my legs and then rinse it out with cold water if possible.

Even though I don't dye my hair, in Florida I buy the more hydrating shampoos and conditioners made for dyed hair...

While my hair is still wet I use a spray on conditioner and then pantene has an anti friz leave in treatment that I put in and then I style my hair.

For waterparks/pools: before I go in the water I wet my hair in the shower until its dripping, towel dry it and then use spray on conditioner, because your hair is already saturated with water and conditioner it will hold less clorine and hopefully be healthier!

I have naturally curly hair (I was unfortunately called Annie until high school), and also being from NC I'm not stranger to frizzies. Florida definitely has a little something more on home on the frizz front, though! I do style my hair straight for just about every day (but I don't actually DO it every day, that's a lot of work)

I use a combination of Redken products - All Soft for shampooing and conditioning, a little Heavy Cream for every washing, Total Recharge for a little conditioning spray, and Fresh Curls Curl Refiner and Anti-Frizz Shiner for styling. John Freida Frizz Ease serum is great too. but I stopped using it here since I don't really need it. I have also discovered the benefits of using a quality ceramic flat iron! Yes, it takes a little time, but I find it's easier for me to keep straighter hair looking nice there than curly hair - I can go from straight to wavy without being upset, but from curly to poofball? Nah.

I also agree that the water is a little... different.

I can't remember the brand, but the two things I LOVE are called shine junkie (silver can - purple top) and after party (plastic tall skinky pink thing). You can find them anywhere. They do wonders!

(when i go home and figure out the brand - ill edit this post)

I like Biosilk a lot. With this product a little goes a long way. I also love, love Suave's sleek line hairspray. I spray it onto my brush instead of directly applying it. This is by far my favorite hairspray to use, and you can't beat the price. Garnier's anti-humidity hairspray is a close second. If you are like me and can't live without your straightener, I always comb some hairspray through my hair first, straighten my hair, then comb some more hairspray through. I have found that my hair stays better if I spray before and after I use my straightener than just after.

I have natural curly hair (I hate it) and it is very long. I flat iron it bone straight. While we are in Florida it is a running joke in our family to watch my hair grow by the minute. If you have ever seen the episode of Friends where they are in Barbados and Monica has huge hair, that's me! :lookaroun No matter what I do! I use Redken moisture products (shampoo, conditioner and the Redken Align before I flat iron. Nothing works. I live in the south so in the summer I am used to having to fight it but not like September WDW! When your kid's look at you mid-day and go "Holy Cow" it isn't good.
I give up after the third day usually and go curly in a ponytail. :brick:

This really works-Promise!

So Sexy styling creme from Victoria's Secret. It's on sale right now 2 small bottles for 3 dollars. Just put about a quarter sized amount on wet hair, or a smaller amount on dry hair, then blow dry if wet. It'll keep you from having fly-aways. The sale ends July 7th so you better get it soon! I use it every day!

I guess I'm in the minority here - I LOVE humidity, because it makes my hair curl (all those years of trying to straighten it were a lost cause, anyway!) I just let it go wild when I'm in Florida. :ROFLOL:

You are really lucky! My daughter is like you. Her hair is gorgeous in the humidity.....perfect spiral curls without a bit of frizz!

But I am a different story....I have naturally curly hair, but instead of getting curlier in the humidity, mine goes limp.:hammer:

I'm definitely going to try some of these products. There is nothing more horrifying than feeling your hair getting bigger and bigger.

.....except maybe a rat in HM

Definately getting myself some of this!!! What is your natural hair like? I have thick curly hair, but when I straighten it...it looks naturally straight and I look so much better. I can never wear it like that in the summer bc of the humidity.
