Food at WDW

Is it just me or has the food gotten worse at WDW? Don't get me wrong and think that I am trying to be rude/mean or that I don't like any of the food (some of it is really good!) But what happened to the mickey head shaped pizza and the Birthdayland cupcakes? (those were better than the ones they have now!) Now, they have a bunch of Asian noodles and stuff like that! I know that they have a bunch of tourists from places all around the world but I know that if I went to Tokyo, I wouldn't expect for them to have American Food! PLEASE don't think that I am trying to be rude here! I am just saying that I don't think the food is as good as it used to be!

It comes it goes, it ebbs and flows. Sometimes certain restaurants have off nights, or better nights than others. I've never thought that the overall quality has dipped, however.

I wasn't really talking about places where you have to have reservations. I was just talking about the places to get a quick bite. Maybe it is just because I am not a big fan of Asian Noodles and those seem to be popping up at a bunch of places. I think that places like Tony's and Sci-Fi are fine just the way they are. Also, some of the places like Pizza Planet and the Bakery are fine. It is just that some of the good food that they used to have they got rid of and a lot of the food that they used to have tasted better than the versions that they have now. Keep in mind, I'm not talking about all food and I am not trying to be rude!

Not old, just vintage.
If anything, I think the food, quick service especially, has gotten significantly better over the years. The burgers and such taste less like rubber than they used to. I also think the variety of meal options in most QS places is much better. Nowadays you can easily find at least one salad or grilled chicken entree admid all the burgers and fries at a Quick Service place. I even like the Noodles...as odd and out of place as they may be.

Counter service, especially in Magic Kingdom and The Studios has always been below par - over priced and bland. Some of this may be that when everything else in The World is so good the food has a tough job living up to it.

With Epcot and Animal Kingdom, things have improved. You can eat things that are not based around bread products :D

I think this is the main reason that the QSL all over WDW are getting away from the typical hamburger, hot dog and Pizza fare. Asian cuisine is a very good choice for fixing this at a QSL. It is inexpensive and can easily be produced in mass quantities. Asian food is also really popular now in the US. I think it is now federal law to have at least 1 China Buffet in every strip mall in the continental United States.:D

We just spent four days at Universal and my family thought the food was much better than WDW. That being said, the food was the ONLY thing that was better. No wait, we stayed at the Portofino Bay and were able to go to the front of all the lines. Now that was awsome!

The choices are so wide and varied that I don't find any problems in finding something very good to eat. What you may be describing is that some of your favorites have been discontinued or changed; time to broaden your horizons and seek other venues.

p.s. As I was talking to one of the Imagineers on the 2005 Members Cruise, he quipped: (paraphrasing here, Michael, excuse me if I don't get this quite right.) "I was at a meeting of Imagineers and was told that we need to continue to keep thinking outside of the box; and I retorted, why does it have to be a box."

i like that wdw has upped its selection for food. i too am not a big fan of asian noodles but there are still plenty of other options for me to eat. when i was a kid, like most kids, i was a picky eater and only ate hot dogs and chicken tenders the entire week in the parks and by the time the trip was done, i was sick of hot dogs and chicken tenders. im going to be honest though, i usually just go for whatever will be quickest when im in the parks or i try to bring a sandwhich with me so i wont have to spend the money. but when i do eat, i definitely enjoy it and its not as much of a rip-off of any other amusement park.
