following the WDW rules

i see/hear a lot of people who visit WDW (and other parks) that just don't think the rules apply to them. there are height req. for a reason, yet mom and dad seem to think not them. there is no smoking in the parks (except designated areas) yet people walk around w/cigarettes. there is no line cutting or holding a space for 15 other people, yet i see it all the time. there are times when the CM needs to board handicap people on a ride/monorail/bus, yet perfectly able bodies push all aside and say we are going and you can't stop us. there are garbage pails, diaper changing stations, bathrooms, etc. yet people throw dirty diapers on the ground, urinate and, yes deficate, out in the open. leave garbage and throw it on the ground. there are people who fake that they can't speak english and try to get away w/things. there are designated areas of parade watching for handicapped people to watch, yet other people invade there space. the fast pass system is designed to work, yet people try to use expired fp to get on a ride or use one f/p for several people and then give the CM a hard time. i know of a lot of awful occurances because i visit a website that is sor t of a venting area for CM and parkworkers. they tell some stories that'll make your toes curl. after reading that i have a newfound respect for these workers. disney is a wonderful place and we should all keep that in mind when we visit. sure we pay a lot of money to go there, but that doesn't mean the rules are waived for us.
i know this all sound awful, and it is. WDW is my favorite place to go and be. and when i come across these bad behaviors it can ruin a moment of my fun, as well as other people who abide by the rules.

god yea

the smoking and pushing annoys me most!

in the UK now its a non smoking place except in a open placed environement - eg outside the front of a pub

i dont like smoking i think its a horrible habit and not very friendly to others who dont, yet people do just walk around

IMO, people have problems with rules or even laws because the majority of them are manmade, so are always subject to change. Because of this, most people feel that they can pick and choose which ones to follow, especially if they witness others breaking them with no apparent consequences.

Because this is the way most of us live in most developed countries, we are really surprised when we break a rule, especially a natural one, that DOES have immediate and deadly consequences.

This rude behavior doesn't just happen at Disney World it happens everywhere. Some people just seem to have forgotten (or were not taught) how to be polite. Fortunately, there are some of us out in the world that are polite and have patience for others.

This phenomenon is not just limited to WDW, unfortunately. People break rules, which they think don't apply to them, all the time. It happens at the mall, restaurants, the aiprort, sporting events, the movie theater, you name it.

I know thats right!!:goodnevil When we get in line for the trams at the parking lot, they try to go over lines and won't move and then the tram dosn't move. Plus they try to switch lanes and put them in your row when it is already full!!

, urinate and, yes deficate, out in the open.
 Cant say Ive ever seen that. (and hope I never do.)

Disney seems to not want to make a scene when they probably should. The one thing you didnt talk about was the heelies. Parents dont care that the rule is you cant use them but I have never scene a cast member say anything, even after they zip right past them. The only thing you can do is follow the rules and hope some of that rubs off on others.

pushing and people walking right into you has to be at the top of my list. sometimes it's a genuine accident but i think other times some people are just rude

It's more a commentary on society in general. People think they can get away with anything. And no one wants to speak up because it's not their duty. But when someone does something, herd mentality will kick in and more and more people do it.

Which is why you need to go the other way. : ) Be polite to people, try to help when you can. Hopefully some of that will rub off on people.

I know people are going to hate me for this, but I have to say the solution is vigilante-ism. No one gets past me in line, if I'm in a bad mood, and some "I don't speak english" *cough, cough* family is trying to get past me to catch up with their family, (who pushed past me earlier) I will grab on to both handrails and thats it! I've watched the stupid kids wait until I catch up with them so they can join there parents, behind me.
I've also yelled at people on pirates and SSE for flash photography, and you know what? No more flashes! Also, being a CM, I understand the frustration of not being able to tell people off while on-stage. I've yelled at people when they are giving the CM crap.

Man, if you think wdw has impolite people, do not go to a Six Flags.

If they are worse at Six Flags, I would hate to be there. :dazzle:
I could tell you of several incidents where parking lot attendants on telling someone who got there after the park was closed to capacity have been cursed at, spit at, almost hit by cars because the angry driver sort of guns it and either doesn't realize his wheels are turned or intentionally aims at the attendant(only missing because the attendants scrambled out of the way).

Thank God for Orange County being in the parks to render the trespass laws at these angry rude guests who think no rules apply to them.

It's funny my son is a smoker, and one of the things that es him off most is when people walk around Disney with cigarettes in their hands. He fumes when he sees that. When he was graduating High School a few years back, they had a trip to Disney. Being brought up a Disney kid he gets very agitated when people don't adhere to rules. He went to Magic Kingdom on Grad night and he said they had to open the stretching rooms doors so people could go right through because people were jumping up on the gargoyles heads and trying to break things. He came home so upset!!!! Not only is HM his favorite ride but that kids would destroy it just for kick really killed him.

I enjoy reading all of your comments, as I agree with every single one of you! Some things just can't be stopped by having rules and regulations, and what is sad is that people do get ahead in this world for not adhering to these rules (at least in the short-term). I try my best to ignore these people in everyday life, but when it happens at Disney, I get really ticked off. Disney is a haven to families. I am 22 and don't even have a family of my own yet, but having grown up a Disney-lover, I remember how much it meant to me as a child. It is sad to see thoughtless people around Disney, they really aren't taking in the spirit of Disney. Their loss really!

There are a few things that happen there almost every time that make me mad too and one of them is the smoking thing. There is a place for that and they should keep it there. The second is unruly teens running & shoving people trying to beat someone to the line. :fork: It's crazy how they act. There are some adults that do the same thing. The third thing is when people just hang out in the eating areas way after they are finished eating. This is no big deal if they are not busy but if they are, get up. You will see people with trays full of food standing waiting on a table and there will be people parked at a table that have finished their meals and just sitting there talking. There are benches for that outside. Be nice people. :)

Wow. Do you yell at them while you are still in the ride or after everyone gets off?

Welcome to the age of the internet. People are becoming used to not having any human cotact with other people. They can behave anyway they like and there are no repercussions. When they are out in public they continue to behave in the same maner because they become oblivious to the fact that there are other people in the world.
naumoney posted a comment on the way he treats these rude people. I'm all for it. I have no problem telling these people where the back of the line is...etc. etc. etc.

 Cant say Ive ever seen that. (and hope I never do.)

Well we have seen it! :hurl:

While visting MGM about a week and a half ago our family of four was coming around the corner of the Muppet store - my 12 yo son stood at the base of the Kermit statue to have his picture taken. I heard to my left what I thought was water streaming from somewhere. NO, in fact it was a five/six year old boy standing up on the platform of the statue on the other side of the doorway relieving himself with his mom holding his hand! I usually try to keep my opinions in check and quiet - but not at that moment. I looked right at the mother and loudly said "You have GOT to be kidding me!" Others around us looked at me and then in the direction of where I was yelling to. The mother said "What?" with a serious look on her face. I replied back to her "You have got to be kidding me that you are standing there letting your son "go" right on the sidewalk where people are standing and walking." She said "well when he has to go he has to go". I said "OMG - there are bathrooms right at Pizza Planet! This is really ridiculous - good thing everyone visiting the parks doesn't think the way you think!" She just smiled back, as junior was still doing what he needed to do. I then told her "Please make sure that he washes his hands when he is done and for those of us that appreciate good hygene - please notify someone to come hose down the area." and then I walked away I believe with steam coming out of my ears! :fork:
