Folding chairs

Just thought I'd bump this since it's been a while. And I was hoping that perhaps someone who just got back from WDW might be able to tell me if he/she saw these chairs in use there.

We go every week, twice a week....

The chairs (of any sort, except wheelchairs) are not allowed...

I have seen CM's make People take their chairs and put them in a locker or get a tag to collect them and have them put in storage.

Could be I don't visit that much...

The best way to see any of the parades or fireworks displays is to simply call Disney and set up your own private showing. That way you can get exactly the view you want without any concern of people standing in front of you or finding a way to store your chairs during the day.

I am not sure about full-sized bagged folding chairs.

When I worked at the WOD this summer, we sold parade/fireworks "stools." They were a small, backless version of the bagged folding chairs. They were blue and folded up into an over the shoulder type bag. They were a huge hit. People purchased them all the time.

I would say that if your chairs come with some sort of an ottoman (I know a few of my folding chairs in a bag do,) just bring the ottoman to sit on. Or if you have the children sized chairs, those might be Ok. Those are more comparable to the size of the stool that Disney themselves was selling.

But in all reality, I can't see Disney turning you away if you are carrying a full-sized chair.

I guess I just don't understand the problem with sitting on the curb or the ground like everyone else does while waiting for the fireworks/parade...yeah, it sucks...but it's just what you do.:lookaroun

Assuming the chairs won't fit in the lockers, you will have to spend probably an hour getting to and from your resort with the chairs. And you will still need to stake out your place well before the show starts.

Instead, why don't you use that extra hour to stake out a good spot? We've watched ROE from the Cantina de San Angel tables in Mexico, and from a bench between Morocco and France. Both times we were sitting down, quite close to the fence, eating yummy food while we waited.

Not to mention the super tasty margaritas. This sounds like the best idea yet!

Ya, I thought of that. But then I concluded that they can't come up and stand right in front of me if I unfold my chair and sit down right in front of the metal gate. So I'm thinking more of Illuminations and not Wishes. I realize that for Wishes someone will always be right in front of me. But for Illuminations and the Main Street Electrical parade, it would be nice just to set up your own folding chair and have a seat. Especially since there are only a few benches and they fill up fast.

Like I said, the things hardly take up any room at all and are quite easy to carry around. Not much different than walking around with a backpack.

They will not allow you to have chairs on Main Street for the parades....sit on a bench, sit on the curb or stand.

As for Illuminations....if you're talking about World Showcase Plaza...they won't let you up near the gate until at least 8:30 PM if not 8:45 PM and chairs are not allowed....you must sit on the ground. As for the rest of WS...all the benches that face the lagoon are on the other side of the walkway. Just stand next to the railing.

It´s such a shame I haven´t got the photo´s anymore...

I have seen them side by side along the whole lagoon... It surprised me too...

You're right....now that you say that, I have seen them moved.

In that case....grab one and claim a spot and get as close to the railing with it as you can.

Here's an option no one has mentioned. If you get the premium or platinum package you get preferred viewing for Wishes & Illuminations. The one for Illuminations is on the boat ramp across from Morroco (sp). We haven't done the one for Wishes yet but I vaguely remember being told it was on top of The Paza or something like that. Also on the Platinum plan you get both of those plus a fireworks cruise and reserved seating for Fantasmic!

It was allowed years ago. We used to always bring them to the parks for the parades and fireworks. Unsure of the current rules..contact guest relations if you want a for sure answer.

Thanks for the serious reply. I'm glad someone gave a serious answer amid all the sarcastic answers.:( Although I must admit, I found the sarcastic answers pretty darn funny.

We just got back on Saturday

We did not see any folding chairs We got on the parade route about 6:30 for the 8:00 MK parade right on main street and a chair sure would have beat the curb! But I guess you'd have to sit in the back so you don't block anyone. Hope it works out!

I don't think I've seen any chairs, but I never really thought to pay attention. The only thing I have seen (and seen lots of) is the canes/w/stool on them.

I always notice them at EPCOT around the start of ROE...

I have seen air beds, chairs, and tents at Epcot on New Years Eve Day. They set up when they first enter WS, and sit there all day long. I was always shocked that this was allowed. It also shocked me that they would pay to sit from 8 am till midnight just to see 15 minutes of fireworks. (which is a very good show btw!)
