Folding chairs

This thread is getting really funny.

Lets get back to the point. The thing is that they probly won't let in with the chairs. I think that there is no point for the chairs in the first place in the parks. There are benches and you could stand and watch. Or maybe this, if you are watching wishes you could go to the Contemporary and sit at the bus stop there and watch the fireworks there. The sad news is that they won't have music there so it is like a fireworks show on the four of July.

I can think of a really good reason why this wouldn't be a very good idea and therefore not allowed:

You get your spot all staked out, set up your chair and get all comfortable.

Next thing you know... sombody will come up and stand right in front of you !

Ya, I thought of that. But then I concluded that they can't come up and stand right in front of me if I unfold my chair and sit down right in front of the metal gate. So I'm thinking more of Illuminations and not Wishes. I realize that for Wishes someone will always be right in front of me. But for Illuminations and the Main Street Electrical parade, it would be nice just to set up your own folding chair and have a seat. Especially since there are only a few benches and they fill up fast.

Like I said, the things hardly take up any room at all and are quite easy to carry around. Not much different than walking around with a backpack.

I have seen many people use folding chairs. They keep them in a locker and only bring them out for the parade, then put them back. I haven't seen a CM say anything about it.

Thanks. I thought I had seen them before at WDW, but then I thought maybe I was imagining the whole thing.

Sort of related - we took "stadium seats" that we bought online from shopatDisney.com into Fantasmic the last time we went. None of the CMs objected. The extra padding on the bottom and the back support were wonderful - especially since we like to get there as soon as the gates open so we can sit in the middle. Lots of people around us were offering us big bucks for them before the show was over! They don't fit in the lockers, so we had to go back to the resort for them before we got in line for Fantasmic.

That what I originally planned on doing until the thought crossed my mind that perhaps we could leave them in lockers. Just leave them at the Resort and then at, say, 7 PM or so, go back to the resort and get them and then "set up camp" for Illuminations, since people start staking out their seats an hour to an hour and a half ahead of time.

We didn't have the bag chairs last year when we went to EPCOT, but we did stake out a seat on a bench around 7 PM or so. We waited until it got dark and then a big thunderstorm came along and we left for home. In the 20 minutes or so it took us to go back through the park and all, I never saw the fireworks, so I assume the show was cancelled.

Just thought I'd bump this since it's been a while. And I was hoping that perhaps someone who just got back from WDW might be able to tell me if he/she saw these chairs in use there.

Basically, set up camp right in front of the iron gate, as opposed to sitting on the benches only to have some clown come and stand right in front of us and block our view.

No offence but people usually stand to watch fireworks and I thinks it's unreasonable to think that they would create a 20 ft. open space in front of you.

My wife and I have discussed taking my pick up truck when we go in February. That way we can pull my truck on the bridge between Liberty Square and the castle.....and sit on my tailgate. That would be good for several reasons because #1 we would not have to take a bus and #2 we won't have to rent a locker!!

You could keep all your food in the cab and if you put a camper shell on you would also have a place to spend the night.

no offence but why on earth would you want to lug that around the park before the fireworks?!

Probably just go back to the resort and get it, rather than carry it around all day. Besides, they aren't that big to lug around. Just sling it over your shoulder and it would be about the same as lugging a backpack around.

we always take the chairs off the plane when we go, those park benches can be so....wooden,
if you get along enough lead, when you press the hostess button she arrives with cocktails too..its great:brick:

I don't really understand how the benefits of bringing a chair into the parks outweigh the disadvantages of either having to lug the chair around the park or else leaving for an hour+ to retrieve it from your resort. What's wrong with sitting on the curb or merely standing? Thousands of people do it everyday and they seem like they've survived...

Sounds reasonable to me. I was thinking of bringing a nice 40' motorhome. There is one company(Airstream, I think) that makes one with a deck on the roof. Talk about your prime viewing location!! No one standing in front of you there!:sohappy:
