I think you can hold a gathering of people that agree with that opinion in a phone booth.

Well I have 4 friends who all agree and I’m sure many other people would to. The Star Wars show is just some basic fireworks and clips projected on a screen. You can get the same type of experience at Magic Kingdom fireworks. Animals Kingdom has a show that’s different from all the others.

Rivers of Light is a different style show that I don't think can be compared to your typical fireworks show. While I do like the Star Wars show it doesn't use as much pyro as it could.
I am entertained by the Star Wars show and make a point to see it when I visit. I've seen Rivers of Light twice and that's enough.

I don't disagree that it's different, but it lacks anything inherently impressive to me. There's no goosebump moment for me and Fantasmic, Illuminations, Galactic Spectacular and Happily Ever After all have those moments in spades, even after multiple viewings.

Admittedly the Star Wars fireworks prey on familiarity and emotional attachment to the source material, but Rivers of Light is just simply lacking. The "finale" is less impressive than an open Earth Globe without fireworks. The show needed something more be it lanterns, be it drones, be it something we don't know about. If Rivers of Light is still playing in the Animal Kingdom in 5 years, it will be a mistake.

This whole UP inclusion seems awkward. If Kevin at least represented a real species of bird, the show could educate the audience about that species.

They may as well use the Yeti in an educational dance show about the great apes.
I could buy using Kevin as a means to talk about her real ratite relatives. Yeah, the Beast of Paradise Falls is a made up species, but a big colorful ostrich thing isn't as outlandish as a vaguely sentient Kong-sized snow ape.

The first time I saw Rivers of Light I was crying my eyes out at the beauty of the show. Never happened to me in any other show.

Best idea so far, Because at least for a while there were 'Wilderness Explorer' face characters at AK, Like I said to me the Guano's detracted from the show BUT they were useful when the birds were not cooperating, So Scoutmaster Joe with a couple of WE's would be a great idea.

But of course the prerecorded show was probably a way to get rid of a few Equity actors as foamheads are just regular CM's in most cases.
Nope. They still have an equity performer and a bird host just like Flights and now they’ve added two character performers sooo GASP they’re spending more money now....

RoL is a beautiful show in its own way. It’s a perfect ending to a relaxing day at AK. It’s the only park, besides EPCOT that I feel I’m on vacation and RoL ends it perfectly. I don’t need big booms going on around me at the end of the day at AK. That’s where I think the problem for most people comes in. It may not feel like a great ending because they can’t look up and say wow. It’s perfect for that park IMO.
As for the new Flights show, I’ll reserve judgement until I see it in person with the kinks worked out. The original show was a hidden gem and one of the best shows in Disney. Again, my opinion. I just hope they change a few things and tighten it up a little.

For the record, RoL is a subtle masterpiece of a show...when it works. It is a beautiful alternative to an ending nighttime show where fireworks cannot be used. That being said, the foundations of the show are not robust enough for it to perform on a consistent and reliable basis. The first time we saw it I was amazed. The second time I saw it there was wind, and I was...not amazed. It is a shame they couldn’t design it so that it performed reliably every time, because the music and visuals are so impressive.

We will likely see for sure today.

I’m sitting down for the 1:30 show and I miss Guano Joe already. They used to have a person with a bird in front of the theater, but that stand is gone. The theming on the outside looks great and I like the style of these signs:
