Ok so I am looking at flights for our trip and it just dawned on me that I haven't been on a plane since i was about 12years old. I am getting really nervous about flying now! Do any of you get nervous before getting on the plane for disney. I think our flights will be nonstop so it shouldn't be more than 2 hours.

Nah I don't think about it. Get magazines at the airport or bring an iPod. Most planes now have in flight Sirius radio you can plug into and relax and enjoy the ride. If its really bad your doctor can prescribe Valium or Xanax to take before you leave.

You'll be fine - when I think too much about anything safety-wise, it ruins my fun...just concentrate on the fun you'll have at Disney! Walk yourself through your best mental images!

Many people are like this, but statistically, you are about 50x more likely to die walking to your car in the driveway for the trip to the airport. There are lots of things that can help with the stress: cocktail at the bar, a mild sedative, or just think where that plane is taking you. From Louisiana, it is about a 2 hour flight (with the time change, 3 hours there, 1 hour back). Just relax. If you have an iPad or other tablet, get your favorite Disney movie on it. You will be almost landing when the movie is over.

I like airports and to fly so I don't get nervous flying anywhere. However, I do get anxious on the flight going to Disney. I'm so anxious to just get there that I end up a ball of nerves that the luggage will arrive, DME will be there, our room will be ready, etc.

Flying is easy as long as you have all of your paperwork! I get a little anxious on a plane so I make sure I have plenty to read, watch, listen to. It helps me to think about all the great things we are going to do in the world. On the way home I'm usually too tired to worry much, lol

I was the same way I flew for the first time i was 18 My sister was 25 she says Ill stay awake with you the whole time, yeah OK the best advice is while you are flying up and while your in the air chew gum or swallow because the pressure on your ears will start to hurt! Have a great trip, I'm only about a 2 hour flight as well where are you flying from?

I don't get nervous just excited! Bring something to do and snacks to eat with you. Two hours on a plane can get boring and seem long. I love to fly! If your worried about ear pressure just chew some gum on take off.

While I'm down to flying only once or twice a year, I used to fly A LOT and I still got nervous. I get nervous when family flies w/o me as well. I'm flying by myself for a reunion in May - no direct flights - and the anxiety started creeping in just a day after I booked.

That being said...the nerves still don't keep me from traveling. I try a lot of logical and rational self talk as well as things to keep me busy on the plane. I actually prefer flying with my kids since keeping after them gives me lots to do- so the nerves don't have a chance to really get the best of me. From getting my ipod and phone ready for game time, coloring books and crayons, and the portable dvd player...not to mention snacks and drinks- it's plenty to keep me preoccupied until we're back on the ground.

Regardless, keeping yourself busy on positive things is key. If everyone is up for it...the flight there is a good time to talk about what you want to do first or fine tuning a must do list. :)

I am a planner and plan everything. Last trip I even had the children what a video about going through the airport security. My DH on the other hand is the nervous one and will sometimes take a Gravol to calm the nerves. I have him sit with only one child while I take on two to give him some quiet time during the flight (we have discussed that while three are fun at times it is hard being out numbered on things like flights.)

I don't get nervous once I'm on the flight, but I get really anxious doing the whole check-in and security part. I find that stuff really stressful. A 2 hour flight isn't that bad at all. If you feel nervous, bring a magazine or, even better, a Disney planning book so you can get excited about all the fun you're about to have.

I used to be the same exact way, (figured nothing a bloody mary couldnt fix prior to take off!! LOL) I buy all the rag magazines at the airport or a puzzle book. Now, with most airlines offering wifi, I watch the flight on radar (an app I have) then proclaim "we're halfway there!!!" Flying is safer than travelling in a car or walking across the street. Dont forget to bring gum to chew when your ears pop!! I always watch the Flight Attendants ... they do this every day and dont give it a thought! When you land at MCO, you have the Fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and my boy Pluto) waiting for you!!! You will be fine :)

No flying never bothers me, when I was younger and flying in military planes I always got conerned when they opened the door to the plane and the jumper master yelled "Stand up, hook up" but I digress. Anyways, bring your music and or laptop smartphone etc watch TV, listen to music and remember when you land you're at Walt Disney World! Enjoy.

2 hours, IF you are flying from the North East keep a few things in mind. Estimated flight times are usually shorter than listed (at least from Philly). At some point during the flight it seems as if the plane is following the coastline, you lose the coastline for a little while but no sooner do you pick up the coastline your on the ground again. Hope that helps a little. Definitely bring a magazine and an Ipod.

I used to be deathly afraid of flying. I couldn't even look forward to a trip because of my fear. It became a real problem because we started taking more frequent trips with flights that were 5, 6 or more hours. I had to get over it. I started taking a mild doctor prescribed medication which worked wonders. After several flights, I realized I didn't need it anymore and probably haven't for 15 years. I no longer fear flying but still haven't gotten over riding with my husband driving. That requires @DisneyDebNJ 's remedy! ;)

Thanks so much everyone for all the positive feed back. I don't think my fear is so bad I need to take something....plus I don't wanna be all loopy once we land. I am nervous though. I'll make sure I have some good books or something to keep my mind off of the flight. Someone told me to just to tell myself that I am on a bus. Also both of my flights there and back are nonstop so that will help me too.
