An approved fire detection system or automatic sprinkler system per Florida Fire Prevention Code NFPA 101 12.3.4.2.1(1) is how you get around the requirements of 9.6.2.3(1).
For NFPA and FFPC, that exclusion is for certain types of occupancies. For Reedy Creek, "there's no getting around it" without a site specific request, which I've never seen approved without structural (or thematic) impossibility. And even then, it's pretty close to 5' from the door.
