Flies. Lots of Flies.

Too funny, you need to live in Australia to see what flies are really like. Summer isn't Summer until you've swallowed at least 2 - 3 of the little buggers. Shame they are spoiling peoples holidays though.

No they won't find out or very few will. If Disney makes an official statement about a fly problem they will instantly get thousands of weekend travelers canceling their reservations. Others will get it stuck in their mind that WDW is a filthy place and they will never go there. That's the way people behave. It's big business and no big business will ever say they have a problem and they're working on a solution unless they have no other choice. Think a restaurant will ever say we have a roach problem but we're working on it??? No they will never say that. A grocery store saying they have a rat problem??? They will never say they do unless it ends up on the news and they no choice but to say something positive. Disney will never say every May and September we have a love bug problem because people will avoid WDW during those months if they are warned a head of time and there is nothing that can be done about the love bugs.
There is no room for sane and rational thinking in this thread. All I want to know is when the stealth bombers will start dropping DDT.;)

Stealth bombers? Why not use drones?
The B2 just looks cooler. It is Disney after all and things need to be done with a certain sense of style.;)

To add to the mulch/manure hypothesis. Disney may have had the bright idea to cover/inject the manure into the mulch. Manure contains fly larvae which are killed by UV light when surface applied. Injecting/covering with mulch does not allow the larvae to be killed. In fact, the larvae are now enrobed in a dark/moist/warm environment. This helps to incubate the larvae and yields a very low mortality rate. This decision may arise from an eco friendly idea to protect the watershed from rain induced runoff from surface applied manure. There is a reason why farmer fling the pooh and do not bury it.

I was in MK on this past Saturday and yes, they were horrific. We started the day at HS and no problem with them there then bounced to MK. They were bad enough we actually left the park and went back to HS because of them. No problems with them at my house either.

When they have problems with the cryogenic chamber within which Walt is stored, it vents to the atmosphere and attracts a disproportionate number of flies. Last time this happened they called in John Kassir and he got the problem fixed quickly.

And before anyone quibbles, Walt's cryogenic crypt was moved from DL to the MK due to a codicil in Walt's last will and testament.

Eating to much Disney food will kill off any life form! :D

The flies died of clogged arteries...or did they die from disappointment at the bland, regulated food meant to sate the tourist masses from around the globe, but wow no one? Perhaps, the flies finally noticed the prices? Trying to use up snack credits and overdosed on those chocolate covered, Mickey head, rice crispy treats caused to little black pests to overdose on sugar? Maybe they descended on a meatloaf in LTT right before baking?

Or maybe they only had 10 day park hoppers and their little arm bands no longer worked.
