FLE pouring concrete walkways already?

I would have to say that they were done on site. There were chips in the area that most likely were used for that rockwork. Once the chips are place and welded together it does not take long to spray the concrete and then detail. There realy is not much there when you consider Beast's Castle ot Mermaid. Also the rocks closest to the Teacups were grey a few days ago and now they are tan and getting their final color detail.

I just noticed the pictures at the start of the thread were taken mid November, so it wasn't as quick as I thought it was.

Yeah the chips have been prebuilt, and once in place the get the plaster material on really quick. Disney have been doing a heck of a lot of rock work recently on both coasts!

I kind of suspect they're doing something like that with a facility they built in the middle of the project area but who knows. There are also dumpsters full of "rocks" that are either for use, or rejects.

I'm sure someone is getting wind of all the speculation and having a giggle about it too. :ROFLOL:

Here's a view of the fabrication area they built, and the dumpsters. Sorry for the quality, this was on that rainy day.

I'm a little late to the thread but here are a couple of views of the walkway area the thread started off with. The blue arrow points to the area where the guy was standing in the original ground-level pictures.

The first picture is from January 2011 (I don't have anything closer, sorry)

315 days later in December the walkway has obviously changed

Aerials and 'over the wall' pics won't be necessary for this particular area much longer....

And get ready for a great view of Mermaid over the rock work and retaining wall along that path.. the construction walls will be shifted way back soon..

Just in time for the opening of the circus section of the FLE

I can't imagine the walls will be coming back very far. If anything, the green section of wall in the below image will probably come down and a new construction wall built parallel to the pathway all the way past the mine train area, in front of the tents and up to the train station.

I may be wrong, but I don't think we'll have walls pushed back too far toward the mine train area. If anything, I'd be willing to bet the wall near the current Dumbo will be extended around that spinner for its removal.

We'll have better views of Mermaid and Beast (from afar) but I think they'll still be over the wall shots. Someone can correct me if I'm way off base here.

Will the construction walls be on the other side of the new rockwork that we see in these photos? Will the rockwork be along the new pathway or behind the walls I wonder.

I would have to say the construction wall will be located on the walkway side of the rock work for quite a while. Remember that the Mine Train will not be open for about a year and a half, there will be an island of walls in the middle of Fantasyland. I honestly wonder if all of Circusland will open together? I would not doubt that Dumbo opens first followed by the train station, Great Goofini then the tents later. There is still so much to complete there.

Yeah Scott, the quality is abosutely horrible! You should be ashamed!

I do want to thank you for all the incredible shots that you have been sharing. It really gives a great overview and understanding of what is happening. Please take one of the GF construction site. :D

I see what you are talking about. The dumpsters lined up around the rock dumpster all look to be filled construction debris. That leads me to believe that they are trash. However I would not doubt that some smaller sections that may be placed in planters or show scenes the are "free Standing" could be built over at thew STOLPort.

The chips themselves are built at an outside facility that uses computer imaging and CNC rebar benders along with some very good craftsmen to create the chips themselves and then they are trucked to the site to be welded in.

Word from a facebook friend says that part of the walkway to Storybook circus is open...it has horseshoe prints and wagon wheel tracks embedded in the concrete.

I noticed that yesterday, but honestly thought it was old, beaten concrete waiting to get redone lol.

I didn't notice this before, but in this picture you see the wagon wheels they used to distress the concrete.

Great observation! That's an awesome find.

Architectural concrete is extremely difficult work. Doing it Disney style is even harder. The photos in the other thread of the horse and wagon tracks show incredible work. On par with Animal Kingdom surfaces.
