I have no clue what this Imagineer is standing on all I know is it wasn't there when I took pictures about 3 weeks ago on 11-14-11. Anyone have any idea what that is? Also you can notice the new rockwork next to it as well. Click on the picture twice for a higher resolution picture.

I just looked at old aerials and some other pictures I took. This is new concrete. I know it looks cracked and everything, but it was not there a few weeks a go. You can see it in the first picture, but it is a different shape then the over the wall pictures.

Compare those first few pics with the new ones. It is obviously new concrete and it's blowing my mind as to why it looks so crazy.

Could it have been old concrete that was covered over with dirt to protect it from heavy machinery and then recently uncovered again?

If I'm viewing these properly (and I may not be), it looks like it is a pathway running from just behind Tea Cups to the new Dumbo area. I wonder if this is going to the walkway they use when parts of the new section opens to the public.

Here's a closeup of that area comparing one of Scuttle's aerials on top (which I think is a little older) to the most recent Scott Keating photo. It looks to mean like this is new concrete. This would make sense if they plan to open the main entrance of Storybook Circus in February since this will be the only way to get to it.

Rebar

You can also see new "ground laid" Rebar in the first picture...to the left. This is for new concrete...I'd have to say, new walkway for Dumbo, or they need more "traffic area and are adding a walkway to reduce bottlenecking near teacups.

It is about time. With this Circusland opening in the next few months they need to get woking on the walkways soon and it looks like they are. The cracks do not look like stress fractures but more like they were purposely sculpted into the concrete.

it's brand new concrete.. it is indeed sculpted to have a specfic stylized look (this isn't a Wendy's parking lot) and there is more coming shortly...

Don't forget, we're only WEEKS away from this area being ready for guests :)

1st post...
I was just about to say it's rebar at the side of the concrete, which tells me it's new - or new is on its way. Also to the side of the bars, the boards on the floor look like shuttering boards (don't know if you call them that in the US?) this is used to hold the concrete while it sets. I Work in constuction in the UK and it does look like they have started!!!

On another note I'd just like to say thankyou to everyone on here who updates with photos and other information; scuttle, Lee etc.
We're coming over for our 9th trip in August and it is amazing to see the work that is going on and as a family we love looking at how our favorite place in the world is changing on a day to day basis. It's such a shame we'll miss mermaid and beast but another excuse to come back in 2014!

Keep up the good work
Buzz.

The latest Keating aerials confirm it is indeed a walkway being constructed leading from old fantasyland to Circus..... What a crazy walkway.

Walkway pictures taken 12-13-11. A lot of progress.

Check the fantasyland sub forum in a few hours for the rest of the FLE pictures taken today.

Wow, where did those rocks come from all of a sudden! They must have been pre-fabricated, no way they could have built them on site that fast.

Also interesting to see the new structural steel on the tents, they are really chaning the shape of the roof.

I would have to say that they were done on site. There were chips in the area that most likely were used for that rockwork. Once the chips are place and welded together it does not take long to spray the concrete and then detail. There realy is not much there when you consider Beast's Castle ot Mermaid. Also the rocks closest to the Teacups were grey a few days ago and now they are tan and getting their final color detail.

Yeah the chips have been prebuilt, and once in place the get the plaster material on really quick. Disney have been doing a heck of a lot of rock work recently on both coasts!
