There's only one way to do this right

Why the sarcasm? Meeting Belle in that dress would be a great special holiday treat. They could also change up some of the menu at BoG to reflect some holiday offerings.

Prince Eric's castle would look great with some poinsettas around.

Cause the movie is pretty awful.
We don't need any representation of the direct-to-dvd sequels in the parks.

But I'm all for holiday decorations in the forest. I hope they'd decorate Pooh and the Tea Cups as well (if not for the entire Fantasyland)

Ohhhh...LOL Yes, I agree.

In this case I do think it would be nice to see her in this dress around the holidays though.

Yes I believe there was some mention of that. Will be interesting to see if it happens. Not much outside of Main Street is decorated, so doing Fantasyland to any significant amount would be a break from that.
As everyone always likes to bring up themeing and what is or would be out of place Christmas in the 13th -14th Century was not celebrated like it is today or Missouri at the turn of the 19th - 20th century (Main Street.) Christmas decorations did not become widely popular until the Victorian Era. Altough I think it would be nice...

I hate the direct to video sequels as well, including that one. But regardless of the horrible-ness of the movie overall (which I don't dispute), I really have no problems with that dress at all. It's quite pretty in fact. Really wouldn't bother me if they used it for Belle's winter outfit at the parks. Though aren't Belle and the Beast supposed to be mostly indoors anyways? So they probably don't need winter dress.

That being said, Belle did have a winter outfit in the original movie as well-

Belle does wear her winter Dress in the Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, and there is also a package of it at the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique. It's quite popular.

Making an assumption here that, since this area is brand new, they want people to experience it in it's "normal" state first before they decorate it for the holidays, which is why it will be next year before they do anything.

Carsland has a lot of *very nice* specially made Christmas decorations, and it opened this year.

I think the reason why no Christmas decorations is once again budget tricks that MK uses to get that bottom line to look better, such as delaying refurbs a ridiculously long time (Splash) and not spending the $10,000 for the CBJ Christmas overlay.

We're not talking about some specially made Christmas decorations for FLE, but why not just put some little lights on Belle's castle and hang a couple dozen wreaths around?

I think BoG would look great with Christmas decorations, who knows, they could even add some seasonal items like peppermint hot chocolate or something.

MK should be about making memories, not just cutting budgets as much as possible.

WDW has 4 parks, plus many resorts to decorate. Quite a different setup between the two coasts.

Using that line of logic, this means that if they decorate FLE for Christmas next year, a WDW Deluxe Resort or two will lose its Christmas decorations.

Right? :D

But, your point is valid. If they do go ahead and do Christmas decs in FLE next year, it will be a big change to the long-standing WDW tradition of only touching Main Street for Christmas. And might that open the floodgates to other land decorations in Frontierland, Liberty Square, World Showcase pavilions, etc.?

Disneyland decorates their New Orleans, Critter Country, Toon Town and Frontier... sad

Technically also Disneyland's Fantasyland, with a Christmas overlay at both It's A Small World and Storybookland Canal Boats, but also the promenade mall that spans those two attractions.

Disney California Adventure decorates Buena Vista Street, Paradise Pier, Hollywood Land, A Bugs Land, and now also Cars Land. Here's a pictorial wdwmagic thread on what Cars Land looks like decorated for Christmas this year. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/christmas-in-cars-land-a-pictorial.855667/

That thread now has a video tour of Cars Land given by Anaheim's director of decorations (or some such title). It's an interesting insight into how they create this stuff for the parks and hotels. It wouldn't be difficult for WDW to have a similar program for their parks, decorating beyond Main Street USA or an entrance complex. It would obviously take some cash and an expanded staff from what they have now, but it's not something impossible to do by any means.

It's interesting how WDW approaches decorating the parks, while the same parent Company takes very different approaches at their similar properties in Anaheim and Tokyo.

How is Paris, I wonder? I've never seen what their Christmas decorations look like, or don't look like.

After looking at the Carsland decorations, all I can say is "WOW"!! They seem to do things right in Disneyland..Small World Christmas, Country Bears Christmas, and now an absolutely stunning Christmas display at Carsland..Amazing..

The first time I went to BoG, they had Imagineers out answering questions about the place. I asked them about Christmas decor and I was told "This year we want everyone to experience the area as we intended it to look year round. While there are no firm details about next year, most of us prefer the area to remain undecorated." Then she went on to discuss DLR vs. WDW, passholders vs. once in a lifetimers. So essentially she said that they do not know yet. Personally, I do not see the harm in some garland and lights next year, and completely get why they are not doing it this year. Just my 2 cents.

I know when I did a tour of the Holiday services building back a few months ago that they were under the assumption that they would be decorating for Christmas. That being said, they had not had any of the plans done yet which makes me believe that they will not be going up until next year. I would think if they get anything it will just be a few wreaths or something very, very simple. As far as the commercials someone mentioned, I was there a few weeks ago during CM previews and they were doing commercials in all of the BAtB area.

Disney said they'll do Christmas decorations there next year. But normally, they only decorate from the entrance through the hub.

We shall see next year. :)

Country Bears are gone at Disneyland. Perhaps you meant Haunted Mansion Holiday?
