Five adults, strange sleeping arrangements.

I've finally convinced my brother and parents to go to WDW with DH and myself, but the three of them all want to sleep alone.:fork:
Mom and Dad have been divorced for almost twenty years, and Brother snores like you wouldn't believe. Many of them also have blanket-snatching problems, flailing legs while sleeping, and grind their teeth at night. Hmm.

That said, does anyone have any input on two bedroom villa or suite VS. spreading out in two rooms? This is the first and last family vacation we will ever have, and my parents are perfectly fine with each other, just not in the same bed. And no one will sleep in a bunk bed. Hmmph. Could they make it any harder? :brick:

Or figure out which would be better if you are concerned about budget or if you want to stay at one of the higher end resorts. You could probably get the 3 others into two other rooms at the Value resorts (especially the snorer... who wants to deal with that... I know from my own experience...) Try and see if the DVC has anything for you and pack some ear plugs.

Shoot for 3 rooms at a value resort, with your father and brother in one, you two in the second, and mom in her own. This is perfect, providing that they are able to pay for their own rooms. Pop Century or an All-Star shouldn't be too much.
If you're thinking of booking two rooms, have Dad and brother in one and your mom in your room. Keep in mind, however, that your vacation with your DH will be compromised due to lack of privacy. At the end of the day, those walls between your rooms and your family's are worth their weight in gold, even if just to vent.

Yeah.....tough one.....

Staying onsite in a Disney property is definitely NOT for your group!

You can rent an entire 5 bedroom vacation house for less than it would cost for 3 rooms at WDW. That's plenty of space to spread out in your own rooms, with the additional benefit of having your own pool, gas grill, full kitchen, garage, patio, and 2 baths!

Next time when you go with just your husband, you can treat yourselves to one of the WDW Deluxes!

HAVE FUN!

IF you could get a 2 BR BW Villa it would work. There's a bed and fold out couch in one room, a fold out couch in the LR, and a King bed in the MBR. I stayed in one for the 1st magic meet; mightyduck and Ariel stayed in the room with bed and couch, The Daughter stayed with me, and we were going to put NowInc on the couch if he made it.

Budget is not too much of a concern, so we have been looking into two-bedroom villas on site. This will be my divorced parent's first time at WDW since their honeymoon almost thirty years ago (!) and my brother's first time, so DH and I really want to stay on site because we feel it's so much more magical.

That said, we have priced everything from two rooms in POFQ to a two-bed villa at Saratoga Springs. (DH and I like the idea of own bedroom, but it is not necessary.) I am really NOT familiar with villas/suites, so does anyone have input on villas at DVC properties vs. Fort Wilderness Cabin vs. suite at either Contemporary or Polynesian?

Thanks so much!

Wow I can't believe your mom and dad are going to vacation together after a divorce. There's no way in heck that my husband's divorced parents would take a trip together.

I would definitely rent a home offsite. You can get a super nice vacation home with many bedrooms and bathrooms for about the price of a moderate dinky Disney hotel room.

My friends parents use to travel with the kids every year until they were 18. But then again the parents are still friends and have no hard feelings. They just could not work well as a team.

Now I have a new question....

Since I have gotten some info from you all and the family, we have narrowed it down ....

Well, actually, now that I showed my mom pictures and described things to my dad, we have more options I think :brick:

So. We are between the high priced Saratoga Springs Resort or Old Key West, for a two bedroom villa, which satisfies all needs and wants but includes a kitchen I have no use for (hello, I'm on VACATION lol).

Option two is really four options: two rooms at a moderate resort. My mom likes ALL FOUR moderate resorts (go figure, can't have just one now, can we?) and we would get connecting/adjoining rooms.

Option three is somewhere in the middle: After hearing/reading so many WONDERFUL things about Wilderness Lodge, I was thinking about booking two rooms there (looks like no villa availability).

Please PLEASE give me opinions about this. DH and I are completely at a loss and are indecisive because I have taken it upon myself to make this the BEST (and ONLY) family vacation we ever take together. And we have never stayed at any of these resorts, but we want a really nicely themed resort for that Disney feel.

...then you want Wilderness Lodge. Most people agree it is the best-themed of the resorts.

But what you won't get at any non-DVC resort is a living room area with chairs. If you want to get together to hang out in a regular room, you'll have to sit on the beds.

Although....at Wilderness Lodge you can go to the awesome lobby or hang out on the rocking chairs scattered through the hallways. Also at WL are little alcoves off the lobby just perfect for conversation. I remember one on the 4th floor--I assume they were on the other floors as well. (Our room was over the lobby and outside our front door were these really comfy rockers. It was great to sip hot chocolate and watch the "show" down below.)

FYI--WL has the smallest rooms of the deluxe resorts. Their rooms are the same size as Caribbean Beach (340 sq ft) but larger than Coronado or Port Orleans (314 sq. ft).
