Same. At WDW I spend lots of time exploring resorts, wandering world showcase, etc. Disneyland I spend more time in the parks.

The Disneyland Parks seem to have more places to relax as well. Like I’m thinking of how Jolly Holiday and Refreshment Corner have so many tables where you can get a snack and listen to the piano player and watch the Main Street vehicles go by.

There used to be places like that at WDW but they are disappearing. Fountain Cafe at Epcot for example, Starring Rolls at Studios...
When we go to DL Paris it’s a totally different experience from land and world also. We spend even less time in the parks but it’s our favorite “Disney trip”.

We’ll spend a couple hours in the parks in the morning, take the RER to Paris (or a high speed train to another city), spend the day sightseeing, and end the day back in the parks. It’s a horrible utilization of our park tickets but an absolutely incredible vacation.

If we were only comparing the theme parks DLP would be fairly low on our list (it has a fairly small selection of rides) but looking at the bigger vacation picture it is our favorite park because it is stunningly beautiful and a convenient base to visit Europe.

Continuing on…

Cindy Castle: She is very majestic and tall, that’s for sure. But she’s not as tall as I thought she would be. I’ve heard from countless people how tall it is, and I guess I’m my mind I pictured something too tall. Still, it’s beautiful. I wish I could have seen it in its traditional color scheme. The mural is so stunning.

The only land I feel the need to discuss is Main Street. I personally am no fan of the taller buildings. I’ve said this already, but I prefer the small scale of Disneyland, with the shorter Main Street, smaller castle, and Matterhorn looming in the back. My biggest issue with Main Street was the corporate feeling. It’s present in DL as well, but much more so in MK. We walked into the “magic shop” and not only was there no CM performing magic tricks, but there were was no magic-themed merchandise to purchase. The Main Street Cinema was not actually showcasing any media. It was another store. Pretty sure I didn’t see a Penny Arcade either. I know there’s a barber shop, which is really cool, but this Main Street felt less like an actual main street, even less so than DL. I’ve heard there aren’t many very many Main Street vehicles out at MK. Not sure how true that is. There were no characters out on Main Street either.

Speaking of characters, we didn’t see a single one during our visit yesterday. They had all disappeared by the time we arrived. I was expecting to see Mickey and the gang at night on Main Street, like at Disneyland, but they were not there. Thought that was interesting.

I’m glad you mentioned this because it’s one of the biggest things I miss when at World, I love how the characters are just walking around at DL, you never know who you might run in to. It’s magical.

For sure. I love that about DL, too. I couldn’t believe we didn’t even see characters with handlers yesterday. No one was out. Maybe it was because of the weather.

Cast Members: We had decent to good experiences with CMs. No issues there. One thing we both noticed was the lack of spieling. We didn’t hear any, except at Mansion and even there, the CMs were in different character. At DL, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Mansion CMs smile, but at MK, they welcomed us in with smiles and energy. Nothing wrong with that and I’m not one to get all excited about spieling, but it’s something we noticed. Spieling was emphasized when I trained for Fantasyland.

As previous CMs, we couldn’t help but compare the difference in uniforms. The uniforms in MK are very basic. Seems like they put more effort into the ones at Disneyland. They’re more colorful and more appropriate to theme, arguably. I’ll post some examples below.

DL small world uniforms:

MK’s (the jester uniform threw me completely off):

Florida’s drinking water tastes terrible. Disneylanders, ask for bottled water and soda here.
Oh right…we don’t drink the water. It tastes far worse than Mexico’s…just without montezuma (maybe)

A reminder: Florida is a swamp.
Only MK. Heading back home to California tomorrow.
I would say you might need to return…if you’re in wdw for the first time…the unique things are animal kingdom and Epcot…you’re backwards going to dopey kingdom. Till next time 👍🏻

On one of my trips to DLP I took a guided bus tour into and through the city that also included going up the Eiffel Tower, a boat ride on the Seine and some free time to explore during a 90ish minute break. I was able to eat at a real Parisian sidewalk café for lunch and ride Space Mountain that night.

You can't do that at the other Disney parks. The closest comparison would be Tokyo and taking the train into the city proper.

Since this was your first visit to WDW, I will give you some more information on characters at Walt Disney World.

During the 1990s and 2000s (long after WDW ditched the walkaround characters concept), Disney used to have more variety of meetable characters at the parks. When I visited MK in 2004, I remember encountering Pinocchio and later Geppetto around Cinderella Castle. Nowadays, you have to either ask Cast Members or use the My Disney Experience/Disney Genie App to know what time a certain Disney Character can meet guests outside.

I remember suddenly meeting Marie at the Magic Kingdom during our Senior Trip to WDW during late April 2015. At the time, Minnie meet guests during the morning but rotated with Marie around 10:30am. Sometime in 2016, Stitch replaced Marie for guests to meet at the park.

Since the demolition of Mickey's ToonTown Fair, Mickey Mouse alongside Tinker Bell currently meet guests at Town Square Theater.

Meanwhile, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Daisy currently meetable at Pete's Silly Sideshow at Fantasyland

Not to mention, specific Disney Characters (such as The Seven Dwarfs, Clarice, The Queen of Hearts) are usually saved for ticketed events, Holiday Parties, or Disney Vacation Club Exclusive events at the parks. Unlike Disneyland, where other Disney Characters are more common. It wasn't always like this though, remember when Pinocchio and other Disney Characters from the pre-Renissance era used to be common at WDW?

I wish I had known about the water before arriving. I know for next time I’m in Florida, whenever that’ll be.

My friend and I agreed to go to MK because the style of the park is what we’re most familiar with and it was what we wanted to see the most. It was a side trip, we were in Florida for a friend’s bachelorette. Not sure if or when I’ll return to WDW.

Go on splash…even in disrepair much better than Disneyland

Space and big Thunder much better in Anaheim
I highly disagree, especially with Space.

Space Mountain in anaheim is all dropping with left turns and the ride has no personality. MK one has actual theming and fun track layouts. It's an absolute blast.
