Not a strip mall. Lol.
Whatever it is, and too me fancy strip mall is all I can see, but either way it's in that no man's land that is neither Pixar pier nor Grizzly Peak nor Pacific Warf. It just is.

I was also going to share what I think is better at Disneyland.... But that list would literally be almost everything else. 🤪. Like I even enjoy the Matterhorn more than Exhibition Everest.

No, I didn’t mean it’s not a strip mall (it’s not). It’s an expression.

The comment was genuinely funny to me, as I’m not sure how one sees a strip mall in Mermaid’s queue. Haha.

I've never seen strip mall, but I've always sort of thought 'budget Cheesecake Factory chic' was the signature aesthetic of DCA Mermaid's queue.
I totally get what you mean, it reminds me of when in The Imagineering Story they say the old DCA Sun Fountain looked like something you'd find in a strip mall in SoCal, I have the same feeling about the Mermaid queue structure. It is definitely in a weird no man's land, just being along the walkway from one part of a park to another. I always thought it felt like a strange location but it makes sense, since there's not really anything else around there you don't have to worry about running out of space.

Yes, that’s more like it. I think Cheesecake Factory is spot on.

The two are similar in design.

Just for reference, this is a strip mall, which I don’t see at all.

But everyone’s eyes are different!

But I could also see cheesecake factory. But either way it doesn't look like little mermaid. I like that MKs does.
I still don’t see it, but as I stated, different eyes.

Mermaid’s queue in MK is rocks. Our queue is a building with a seaside/ocean aesthetic. Neither scream The Little Mermaid, but both fit the ocean theme, in my opinion.

I bet that if you blindfolded someone and placed them in the middle of either queue and told them to guess the movie that the ride they’re about to experience is, they likely wouldn’t correctly guess The Little Mermaid.

I think DCA Little Mermaid is wonderfully done in architectural sense. I think DCA is meant to mimic an aquarium facility. I also love the subtle hints of Art Nouveau elements.
I agree. I think the building is beautiful and I love the popcorn lights on the facade and the subtle, but nice, artwork on the inside.

And to be clear, I like both Mermaid queues and facades, MK’s and DCA’s. All four are better than the actual ride. I just think as a whole, MK’s is a bit much for the mediocre ride ahead. And DCA’s is prettier and not as elaborate. But I like both.

I don't know about that. The outdoor part is pretty obviously mermaid. Prince Eric's castle. Scuttle's present in the first room. There's a lot going on in that queue besides rocks.

But like you said, different eyes.

We’re talking about the queues, not the facades. Both facades on each coast will tell you that it’s a Little Mermaid ride. However, once you step into the respective queues, that’s a different story, in my opinion. I found what looked to be “hand-written” notes from the characters in MK’s queue, but I noticed mostly rocks. To me, it’s not obvious, and when I think obvious, I think of Astro Blaster’s queue, which has depictions of Buzz, Zurg, and the Aliens scattered throughout the queue.

I will admit again that it was a walk-on when I went and I therefore didn’t get the chance to look at everything. I’ll find a walk-through of the queue and take a look.

I guess I got confused when you posted a picture of the most standard strip mall facade you could possibly find.🙂.

??
it's basically this -

The kingdom is above the ocean on this.. on cliffs. Just as it's shown in both the movie and in Storybook Circus

The cave queue is not a distinct feature of The Little Mermaid. I wouldn’t look at it and think, yes, definitely Little Mermaid! If the queue mirrored Ursula’s lair with the souls in jars, that would be different.

It still doesn’t scream The Little Mermaid to me.🤷🏾‍♀️
